After a few month of using the ps portal, I can honestly recommend the device for anyone that wants to play games on a handheld but not use the primary TV for example if your partner wants to watch something while you want to game. This is the device for you. The latency is good depending on internet connection, I would recommend using wired connection to the PS5 to lower any lag/latency as the ps portal will be using your home WiFi network to connect and addition to all the other devices connected to the same network. There will be times when the connection to the PS5 does not look as clear depending on connection speed and the type of game you are playing. I would not recommend this device for fast pace multiplayer games as the latency can be too much. However for playing other single player games, this device it’s excellent. One cons against the portal will be that you cannot connect your Bluetooth earbuds or headphones since it’s not supported unless you buy Sony approve link earbuds or headphones which is not great given that most of us have Bluetooth headphones/ earbuds. At least it has a wired option for audio besides the ok speakers. The ps portal has an 8inch LCD screen (wish it was OLED but I know the price would have been higher) which is the perfect size while the feel of the controller is the same as a PS5 controller with all the vibration features.

I was on the fence about this one since you can’t play without WiFi and can only play whatever disc that is in the PS5. I’m old school and I like having the physical disc as opposed to buying digital cause you cant sell a digital game like you can the disc version. I opened the box and was blown away at how beautiful and how big the screen is. The controls fit perfectly in your hands unlike the switch. The battery life is really good. The graphics are amazing and I didn’t really see any lag while playing as llong as you have a good WiFi connection. The $200 price is not that bad for what you’re getting. I definitely recommend buying a case for it. The portal controls take over your PS5. I know video games are going towards all digital in the future so my physical games are gonna be obsolete some day so now that I have the Portal it has changed my mind and Im going to start buying digital games because this thing is so awesome. With all that being said I definitely recommend getting one, you wont be disappointed!

This is an awesome device that helps to extend your PS5 experience anywhere you have WiFi. Even a strong hotspot connection will do. This works conjointly with the console, so your console must stay on and connected to the internet, should you want to take your portable remote out and about. This does not work like the PSP. It’s simply a remote control with a screen. Hope this helps.

The PS Portal is a total game-changer, bringing the party to your gaming experience with its standout Remote Play feature! Picture this: you're chilling at home, but your gaming itch strikes hard. No worries! With Remote Play, you can stream your favorite games to any compatible device, whether you're lounging on the couch or out and about. It's gaming magic at your fingertips, anytime, anywhere!

With the new 4.0 update, this device is a game changer for anyone interested in the PlayStation. Being able to cloud stream games, with my PS5 packed up for a move was heaven sent. No PS5 needed.
You cannot download games natively to this device, but with the proper internet connection, playing on the Portal feels almost identical to playing natuve.
The dualsense haptics and triggers feel better than any other controller I've ever used, but they should have made the thumbsticks bigger.
The screen looks very good to say it is not OLED screen and the sound is decent, but no mind blowing.
I would not recommend this device for people that have only marginal internet connection, that wants to play without internet connection, or wants to watch netflix or youtube, as Sony has locked this thing down to just their ecosystem.
But for what it, it does an exceptional job with no other device quite like it.

This is my own review as a normal consumer.
From the moment this was announced, I had no interest in it. I already own a Ps Vita and love it, but I wanted to be able to play my PlayStation anywhere, anytime. I couldn’t get to stream it on my Vita so the portal begun to make more sense to me and my needs.
After watching so many reviews, good and bad, I decided to pre order it but ended up cancelling it.
They release it and more reviews came in, a good mix of it, everyone was worry about using cellular and how good would it be not being close enough of the console.
I decided to still get one but it was too late, it was sold out everywhere and scalpers were re selling for $500 bucks so I waited it out using HotStock and managed to get one off BB, and my first impression was, “wow this feels good”, plus the screen is amazing. It feels like a portal PlayStation, especially with the dual sense triggers, and feedback.
Connection wise was a bit weird at first but I managed to connect to my 5G internet, and made sure my PlayStation was connected to the same network, also tried LAN and works but it kept getting disconnected for some reason, possibly my Ethernet cable is bad but I decided to go back to WiFi and once I connected both to the same network, I haven’t had any issues. I also learn to unplug the hdmi off my monitor and made my experience so much better.
I have also tried using my hotspot on my phone, it works just the same, it starts a little slower but it smooths up as it goes on.
It also depends how fast of a hotspot you have and if your phone isn’t downloading anything.
I stopped playing multiplayer games so I have no experience on it aside playing Cold War zombies which works great.
I mainly play the show 23, and single players.
I recommend this to anyone interested in playing their PlayStation anywhere, anyplace, AS LONG you have a decent connection.
That’s my honest opinion.
I wouldn’t give up on a scalper but if you’re truly desperate to get one, I still wouldn’t.
Sony will bring more in stock, just gotta keep waiting it out. Scalpers already losing money, they’re dropping prices down to $250.

I am so excited for what Sony has in store for the next generation of portable devices. The portal is an amazing product, especially since they added their beta cloud streaming feature. It is so easy to hop on the game for a quick little hour session without having to power up the whole system. Super easy for people who don’t have a lot of time and just wanna play for a quick 30 minutes or so, I would definitely recommend this product. The price point is reasonable too especially if you get an out of the box one.

When I come from work and take care of my baby, I let my baby use the TV and I use the PS Portal to play and continue where I left off on my PS5. If you’re not in the mood to turn your TV on it’s a cool handheld remote play device. I played games like Final Fantasy Rebirth, Helldivers, etc. The PS Portal is the best experience and way better connectivity than the iPhone/Samsung remote play feature.

After the newest update allowing game streaming, this is a must-have for those who travel and have access to good internet speeds. I have 1k Gbps internet at home, and it does not lag at all. Picture quality is amazing! The sound is really good, but it has a 35mm input if you have headphones, so you can save on buying Sony's dedicated accessory headsets. If you don't like it, return it. Then, someone else can get an open box and save $50 just like me!

I really didnt think i was going to want one of these, as I have a deficated gaming room with a 77" tv and great sound system. Between the much smaller screen, the need for Wifi, and the lack of bluetooth (for audio), i didnt think the Portal would be worth it. Spec wise, it didnt seem like the screen was that much bigger than my iphone 15 plus. I was wrong. The screen is much larger than my phone and is good enough to enjoy Elden Ring and FFVII Rebirth on. While i do think the control feels a little cheaper than the actual dual sense, I really like how much longer it is. The additional length is far more ergonomic and stops your shoulders snd arms from having to internally rotate so much to grip it. It's a seemingly small thing that is actually pretty significant. I do get ocassionsl latency issues, but that seems to be related to my family eating up all my bandwidth. I took the portal on vacation with me and it worked fantastically from the hotel room. All things considered, im very happy with the Portal and have used it far more than expected.

Decided to buy this so I didn't have to take my PS5 upstairs when I wanted to play. I work from home as well and my office is upstairs while my PS5 is in my gaming room downstairs. I mainly play COD so I should have read the reviews first. Its not great for COD multiplayer. It works fine when Im playing campaign, but has a lag for anything else. By the time I aim Im dead. Forcing me to explore other games. This also works like an additional controller so I can sit in front of my TV and play on it. I took it to a friends house but the wifi was bad so it was very pixilated. I have started playing power wash and am addicted! I love laying in bed playing. PS5 must be in rest mode or on to connect. Im taking a 10 hour trip away from my PS5 so Im hoping this will be able to be played while Im away. I bought a plastic console cover, screen protector and case and love the feel of it in my hands. Before I protected it it felt VERY fragile. I would definitely recommend you put this in your PS arsenal. CONS: cant switch user or have someone play my ps5 console while im playing on this device...unless I havent figured it out yet.

Even though the PS Portal isn't a dedicated handheld portable gaming device, it is a great addition in the PlayStation lineup. As an extension of the PS5; a device that's considered as an accessory is a joy to use nonetheless. It seemlessly connects to the PS5 via WiFi or mobile hotspot so long as it meets the required network speed. The screen is bring and fluid with rich colors and the speakers aren't too bad either though lack bass but it's more than enough for gaming sessions. Battery is okay about 5 hrs of on-screen time. The ergonomic is as expected with any other DualSense controller with great vibration feedback and adaptive triggers. Those who wants a dedicated PS handheld, this is a great option for those who can't sit in one place or another means to play when the TV or monitor is occupied by family members. Also, it is a great device for parents. I call it DadStation

This thing had me confused at first; why would I need something like this? Then I read about other people playing games on it while leaving the tv free for other people and idea seemed great. I had to wait awhile to get one but it serves that exact purpose for me. My PS5 is literally in my room but I like to listen to familiar media like tv shows while I game so I play on the Portal while listening to tv shows in the background. The Portal is perfect 99% of the time; once in a while it’ll take a slight pause but it’s never ruined my gameplay. I’ve been playing Uncharted: Lost Legacy and that game has run smoothly every time I play with the slightest little pause once in a while but it hasn’t ruined my enjoyment of the game. My only complaint of the device is with Best Buy specifically; I ordered online for in store pickup and my box was extremely dented; thankfully the Portal itself wasn’t damaged but any store associate should’ve known that kind of packaging shouldn’t have been given to a customer, it just looks bad on the company. I’ve included pictures so people can see what I’m talking about. Like I said, the device is great, Best Buy associates need to put more care into how packages are handled.

While the PS Portal isn't for everyone this controller is great for multi-taskers or for those who want to compromise with others who may want to watch the main TV while you still have the desire to game.
If you are looking for the next generation "on-the-go PS handheld device this isn't it.
However, if you are looking for the best use of Remote Play the PS Portal is the top device for that.
As someone who used to play on the iPad, I find the Portal a much better investment (provided you have strong WiFi connectivity).
The signal remains strong in any part of your home provided that you have high-speed internet of course.
Sound quality is amazing whether you are using headphones or the speakers. It's almost on the level of Apple Airpod Pros.
And just like an Apple product, it is user-friendly in terms of install and connectivity.
Additionally, you also have the same capabilities as the Duel Sense controller, including immersive haptic feedback, dynamic adaptive triggers, a built-in microphone, and a responsive touch screen.
For me (and others like me) this is a great component to add to your PS5.

When Sony first revealed this handheld device, it was not appealing to me at all, but once I started to hear good reviews about it, I was persuaded to see for myself. Took some time, but eventually, I was able to get my hands on this elusive gaming device (I refuse to get ripped off by scalpers). The set-up was pretty straightforward, all you need is your PS5 Console and a strong sustainable WiFi connection (preferably the same network connected to your console). So, my PS5 console is hooked up in my living room, where 80% of the time it's being occupied by my wife and kids, and when you add in 50+hr work weeks, I rarely get the opportunity or have the energy to sit down and enjoy a proper game session. But, now that I have the PlayStation Portal, I'm able to game at my leisure, in the comfort and solitude of my own bedroom. Couple things to be aware of, if you're a traditional gamer like myself, who likes to buy physical disc games, whatever game you wish to play on the Portal, that physical disc has to be in your PS5 console in order to work. Also, if you wish to play on your Portal a good distance away from your PS5 console (car, work, etc.), unless you have a strong WiFi/Hot Spot connection, the Portal will have difficulties with streaming your game. Overall, the PlayStation Portal is a remarkable device, that has completely blown me away, and I can't thank Sony enough, for creating an outlet for gaming parents.
