Ps5 portal
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This PlayStation portal is awesome. It is exactly what my husband wanted. He wanted something he could play his ps5 on even away from home, he originally got a backbone for his phone from another place, but it would not work very great. Then when he saw this at best buy I got it for him for Christmas and he said it works great! He can play it anywhere with wifi or a hotspot and the quality on the device is perfect. Even I have started to enjoy it as well. Highly recommend!

PlayStation Portal is the GOAT.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Playstation Portal is one of the best handhelds I have used. Yes it is a streaming device, ensure you have a great internet connection, otherwise the device is pretty useless.. I have used it with my PS5 and as a standalone device streaming games from my playstation plus library, both are very solid, I did have a few issues with stream quality when network traffic was high, but the game was still playable, visuals took a hit, looked like the resolution drops to 480p but the gameplay stays relatively smooth unlike xbox gamepass that adds in loads of packet loss issues, stutter issues, rubberbanding.. I suppose this is more on the servers Sony and Microsoft use and how cluttered they are vs the device itself, but it's a good point to note that games arent interrupted as much as they are with Xbox Gamepass.. Games play smooth, the device is a bit heavy, but im just not used to gaming on a handheld is all, I have tiny baby T-rex arms so it becomes slightly bothersome to hold up on its own for too long without resting my arms on something. All in all, this device saved my mental health.. I went from having a PS5 and never touching it due to the location i have it in, to now playing more games than I have in the last 10 years.. Executive dysfunction and all.

Perfect Portable PS5
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of the simplicity of gaming PS5 at the palm of your hand is amazing and the quality is breathtaking they look great on the 1080p screen. Its nice now if i want to game and someone wants to do watch someone on the TV its possible now. The system itself feels great the rumble to the controller is spot on basically a PS5 controller with a screen, I did buy a screen protector and a case to make sure its protected. It was a little slow starting up in the beginning but after that its been a breeze starting up so it might just be when its starting. I would say youll need a good solid internet connection or it will lag a little so keep that in mind.

Great accessory for the PS5
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this not thinking I would use it is much as I have. This frees you from being tied down to the TV in the spot you have your PS5 hooked up at. I can be laying in bed playing games, while my wife is watching TV. It does have some limitations. You do need a stable WiFi for it to work flawlessly. It can lag at times, but for the most part it works great. I do not play many PvP games on it, as there can be a slight lag that can pop up can make or break your game. But it works great for single player games.

Must have!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PlayStation Portal honestly surprised me. I didn’t expect much, but it works really well for playing my PS5 around the house. The screen looks great, the controls feel just like the regular DualSense, and it’s super comfortable to use. You do need a good Wi-Fi connection if the signal drops, you’ll notice it. But when the connection is solid, the gameplay feels smooth and responsive. It’s not a standalone console, but for relaxing in bed, on the couch, or anywhere at home without using the TV, it’s really convenient and does exactly what I needed.

Great gift for new Dads
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this portable! I understand there are many options for portable gaming with PS5, but this one for me has been the best. The screen is a comfortable size for traveling, as well as gaming, and the controllers are very similar to ones with the home system. I did have to give it 4/5 due to the internet connection; My house has really strong connection, but even I have noticed choppy service here and there, which has affected my overall experience, Nevertheless, I think it’s a great portable system ad I can’t wait to see what Sony does to make it progress.

Better than expected
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ill preface my review by saying I have two kids, a wife, and one tv. My gaming time is limited but I try to make an effort to ger some game time in each week because it’s something I love doing. The Playstation Portal works much better than I anticipated. Is it perfect? No, but I’m surprised by the ease of use, comfortability, relatively low input lag and build quality. If you have a PS5, share a tv with your family and have your router connected via ethernet I believe this is a no brainer. The only reason I didn’t rate this 5 stars is because of lack of bluetooth. It’s not a deal breaker by any means as the pros heavily outweigh the cons.

Playstation portal
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I actually love this product. Now i know that its gotten a lot of heat for not being a stand alone device but being that i can play my game from anywhere as long as the wifi is great ill take it. I can say that the portal feels like im playing with one of my ps5 dual sense controllers wirh adaptive triggers and a super led screen in the middle. Honestly its like having a ps5 in the palm of your hand. Just remembered that if the wifi connection isnt strong then you might become frustrated with the lag or the reoccurrence of reconnecting.

Portable PS5 aka the Dadstation 5!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Perfect for gaming at home while the family uses the TV. The device is the perfect add on for the core ps5 gamer who has to share tv with the family or roommates. Big screen, full style controller with rumble and haptics, portable with good battery. The best experience is achieved by ensuring you have a great wifi router (don’t use the ones that come with your ISP, get a high quality router/mesh network) and your ps5 plugged in via Ethernet. This is will Ensure minimal lag across your home. It’s becoming my favorite way to play. Wife loves that I can play in the bedroom while she sleeps or watches tv. No negatives this far. Hope they make them in different colors!

Playstation portable remote review
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently got my hands on the Sony PlayStation Portal Remote, and I have to say, it's a game changer for any serious gamer! From the moment I unboxed it, I could tell that Sony paid a lot of attention to detail. The sleek design is inviting, boasting the iconic PlayStation colors while still being comfortable to hold for those extended gaming marathons. Setting it up was incredibly straightforward! It seamlessly connected to my PS5 without any hassle—thank you, Sony, for keeping things user-friendly! The remote gives you direct access to all your favorite applications and games, making it so easy to switch between them without fumbling through menus. I absolutely love the dedicated buttons for popular services like Netflix and Spotify; it saves me tons of time! One of the standout features for me is the responsiveness of the buttons. They have a satisfying click that provides a tactile feedback which helps improve my overall gaming experience, especially during intense real-time matches. The remote is also surprisingly lightweight, so I don’t experience wrist fatigue after hours of gripping it while snugged up on the couch. One of my favorite aspects has been the ability to power on my console from the remote as well; it's perfect for those spontaneous gaming moments—imagine quickly turning on your PS5 after a long day at work and diving into your immersive world without the extra effort of getting up! As for troubleshooting, I’ve faced no hiccups whatsoever. The signal range is excellent, and I can control my PS5 even from a different room, which is impressive and adds a level of convenience that keeps me coming back for more use. In conclusion, if you're a PlayStation enthusiast like myself, the Sony PlayStation Portal Remote is a must-have. It not only elevates your gaming experience but also makes it more enjoyable and comfortable. Highly recommend it to anyone looking to enhance their setup!

MVP in my PS setup
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a little skeptical at first about how much I’d actually use the PlayStation Portal Remote Player, but now I can’t imagine gaming without it! This device has completely changed the way I play, and it’s perfect for those moments when the TV is tied up or I just want to game from the comfort of another room. The setup was super simple—just a quick connection to my PS5, and I was good to go. The gameplay experience is incredibly smooth. The crisp display and responsive controls make it feel just like playing directly on the console. Even games with more demanding inputs handle perfectly, with minimal lag. What really surprised me is how comfortable it is to hold for extended gaming sessions. The design feels well-balanced, and the buttons and triggers have the same premium feel I’ve come to expect from Sony. It’s like having the DualSense controller and a beautiful screen combined in one seamless package. One thing I love is the flexibility it offers. Whether I’m gaming from bed, the kitchen, or even out on the patio, I’ve got my PS5 right there with me. It’s also great for keeping the peace in a shared household—I can still enjoy my games without monopolizing the TV! If you’re on the fence about this, I’d say go for it. The PlayStation Portal Remote Player is an absolute game-changer for any PS5 owner. It’s been worth every penny for the added convenience and freedom it provides. Highly recommend!

Its okay
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't get me wrong portability is there. But in terms of graphics the quality does take a dive and it's pretty noticeable. Of course I'm not expecting the same quality you would get from a 4k or higher standard TV but you just can't unsee it. Another thing to keep in mind this is useless without a PS5 nearby. Don't expect to play this for cloud gaming because it doesn't have that capability. Unless it is added in the future. But the build quality is great, lightweight and obviously portable. If you want to play on the go then this is not it. Get a steam deck, ROG, MSI or Lenovo handheld for that.

Great accessory to any PS5
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a father to two young children, this was a must have. Being able to spend time on the couch with them while they watch TV, or play a game on the Portal while another is playing a different game, has been great. I also think my wife enjoys that I'm not commandeering the TV in the evenings anymore either. She can watch her shows while I work through my back catalog. I wouldn't play any FPS games on this, but I've been able to play Horizon Forbidden West, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and other action games without much issue.

Perfect On-the-Go Companion for PlayStation Fans
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're a PlayStation enthusiast looking for a way to keep the game going even when you're away from your console, the PlayStation Portal is an absolute must-have. It's seriously fun to use, bringing your PS5 games to life wherever you are with a crisp screen that hits the sweet spot—not too big, not too small, just perfect for handheld gaming. Battery life is impressive too—it holds a charge for hours, which means you can dive deep into your favorite games without worrying about constantly plugging in. And with the addition of cloud play, it’s become an even better value. Whether you’re lounging in bed, hanging out in another room, or on the move with solid Wi-Fi, this thing just works. If you’re already in the PlayStation ecosystem and want a seamless way to enjoy your games outside of the living room, the PlayStation Portal is a no-brainer. It’s easily one of the most fun and practical accessories Sony has released in a while. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this when I bought it but after a few weeks with it I'm glad that I did.

Love it, no regrets
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great addition to having a PS5. Streaming could service games as well direct from hardware works without a hitch. Have used in variety of internet scenarios, home/hotel/cell hotspot, without any major issues. Its great to play in places other then in front of the TV. Patio, travel, etc.

The Real review
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PlayStation Portal is basically a glorified PS5 sidekick, a sleek 8” screen slapped between two DualSense halves. It streams games from your PS5 over Wi-Fi like a loyal digital butler, complete with haptics and adaptive triggers. Battery life? Solid. Setup? Stupidly easy. But don’t expect miracles: no Bluetooth (because reasons), no cloud gaming (yet), and forget about Netflix or anything fun outside gaming. It’s Wi-Fi 5 only—like it time-traveled from 2018—and needs your PS5 like a clingy ex. Still, it sold nearly 2 million units because, let’s face it, gaming in bed is adult responsibilities. If you’ve ever wished you could play God of War while pretending to listen to your partner talk about their day, this is your moment.

Great for playing PS5 in bed.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As someone with limited space in my room, I cannot hook up a TV to play the PS5 so this device is amazing for playing in bed. I own a Steam Deck that can do the same thing but requires a little bit more setup, and I personally prefer first party as it was an easy to connect and fluid experience. The screen is also pretty big which is a must have for me, so I think this is the perfect device. My internet router and modem are both in the room so connectivity is strong.

Awesome device!
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had the PlayStation Portal for a while now, and to be honest, my feelings about it have been a real roller coaster. When it was first announced, I, like a lot of people, just rolled my eyes. It seemed like a pointless gadget—just another way to do something the phone and a Backbone controller could already do. But I got one, and now? I’ve actually become pretty attached to the thing. What I love The design is really what makes it. It feels like a premium piece of kit right out of the box, and the ergonomics are perfect. As someone with larger hands, it’s a world away from the cramped feeling you get with a phone clipped to a smaller controller. You get the full-on DualSense experience—with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers—wrapped around a surprisingly crisp 8-inch LCD screen. Sure, it’s not a fancy OLED, but for a streaming device, it looks fantastic. The main reason I bought it was for gaming when my TV was tied up, and for that, it’s a dream. There’s no comparison to rigging up a phone. You just hit the button, and in seconds, you're back in your game, haptic feedback and all. It’s made a massive dent in my backlog because I can easily jump into a session while my wife is watching TV or when I’m chilling in bed. The connectivity at home has also been rock-solid for me. My PS5 is wired to my router, so my network is strong, and the Portal has run flawlessly, even far from the console. The experience is so smooth that it genuinely feels like playing on the console directly. The major headaches Here’s where things get complicated. First, the Bluetooth situation is infuriating. The fact that Sony forces you to buy their expensive PlayStation Link wireless headsets just to get wireless audio is pure anti-consumer nonsense. It’s a baffling design choice, and it's easily the Portal's biggest weakness. I just end up using wired earbuds with the 3.5mm jack, which is a bit of a letdown. And while it works great on my home Wi-Fi, the "on-the-go" experience is a crapshoot. I’ve had some success using it on strong public Wi-Fi, and it’s even worked decently on a 5G hotspot. But the performance is totally dependent on the network you're on, so you can't rely on it for any kind of consistent travel play. If you're on a crowded network, you'll see stutters, lag, and visual artifacts. This isn’t a Switch replacement by any stretch. Finally, the lack of media streaming apps is a head-scratcher. It's connected to my PS5, so why can't I watch Netflix or Disney+ on it? It's limited strictly to gaming. Final thoughts This is not a general-purpose handheld for everyone, and it was never meant to be. It's a very specific device for a very specific type of player. If you have a solid home network and often find yourself needing to play your PS5 away from the main TV, it’s a killer device. The convenience of a premium, plug-and-play Remote Play experience is seriously addictive. But if you expect an all-in-one portable gaming machine, the Portal will disappoint you. For $200, you're buying a luxury accessory for your PS5. If your lifestyle fits its specific—and somewhat narrow—use case, then you will absolutely love it. If not, you’re better off looking at other options or just sticking to Remote Play on your phone.
