The truth about the PlayStation portal is that despite the fact that as far as I'm concerned no matter how you configure your network and all of the things that you will eventually find out online when you researched it they tell you to do to make it work in the best. There is going to be some input lag. I wouldn't recommend using this for advanced online play this is not something that you want to go play call of duty on. But the ability to take your games and do some lower level things and all of the things that you need to do from the comfort of your couch or the bathroom or wherever you use it you can't beat it. To me it is still indispensable and if I ever could find a way to get rid of that input lag it would be constant use

I love being able to watch tv in the same room with my husband while he plays PlayStation! We used to always be resigned to different rooms. He's had no complaints with speed and functionality and often picks up the portal now even when the tv isn't even in use. Great purchase!

I love the screen size and controller design. But if it could ve used to stream from video streaming apps it would be amazing. Also add bluetooth so we can use the headphones of our choice. If this also had OLED and a brighter display, i would pay an extra $50 for it.

I bought it for my boyfriend for Christmas and he loved it. I recommend it more for when you want to play solo games I don’t really recommend it for games like Rivals, Apex, Battlefield etc, because it is a slight delay.

Excellent solution for when you want to play PS5 in bed or in the bathroom, or maybe even on your lunch break. If you have good internet speeds, then you shouldn't have to worry much about lag, except in competitive multiplayer games. I'd recommend it for sure.

I purchased my portal during the beta phase. I am now able to play game ln the cloud, but I wold have to donnect my portal to my console for other game use. Its best to purchase the premium playstation monthly fee in order to stream games from the cloud.once you pair your console to the portal, you cam play you games on the portal as you have great internet connection. Great device for remote play. The PlayStation Portal is easy to set up and works smoothly with my PS5. The screen looks great, controls feel just like a DualSense, and it’s perfect for gaming away from the TV. Really convenient and well designed.

Okay so it’s been a couple months now since I purchased this and honestly, I am very glad I did. At first I thought that this was going to be hit-or-miss since I had heard that it was limited to a certain degree but shout to PlayStation for updating it and allowing for more features.
I have been able to play all of my games. It’s like streaming it into your, there is some lag but with good WiFi you shouldn’t see any issues.
All in all, it’s a good product and if all you care for is getting to play your PlayStation video games while on the road as I frequently am, then I would recommend it. Especially at this price
This is more so for people who frequently travel or have a place where they are often sitting for hours without anything to do.
Lastly, my only drawbacks is that sometimes it doesn’t connect right away. And what you need to do is disconnect the WiFi and reconnect it in order for it to work. This does appear to be some sort of software issue and should probably be addressed by PlayStation on a future update file.

Does everything that it promises, and nothing that it doesn't. Screen looks good, but is a little small for some games. WiFi connections are not great, and even with WiFi connected, sometimes will not connect to your PS5.

You can travel with it and play remotely. It sometimes lags and disconnects from playstation but that has to do with how many things are on the network. It eats up data so be careful when using mobile hotspot. Overall if you are using it at home it is good.

Need strong WiFi and a premium PlayStation plus account, but if those things are something that isn’t a decision maker. This device is definitely something to get, it’s great for being around the house, or traveling on a hotspot when you need a bit of a gaming fix in .

The screen is the perfect to size to make this portable but also comfortable to play. So far I have had no issues with connection to my PS5 for remote play and the beta of streaming games seems to work well also. The only thing I will say is the thumb sticks are a little smaller than on the controller but you can buy an attachment to make it feel more like the PS5 Dualsense. Overall great product.

I didn’t expect to love this thing as much as I did. It runs shockingly well and way better than I expected a streaming device to.
I’m genuinely impressed how well it works with any game I’ve played on it so far, from fps, RPGs and even MMOs (FFXIV).
There’s nothing more I can really say about it. It just works.
Just keep in mind, as with any and every streaming device, your experience and enjoyment with it will depend on your ISP. If you have a good internet provider and speed, your experience will reflect mine. If your internet isn’t quite up to the task, your experience will most likely not be as robust as mine is.

The portal is everything I wanted it to be. I don't take it out of my house so I can't comment on use at a distance but for me to just get tired of sitting in one spot, I can just get up and take it with me to another room. I love it

While the presentation of the hardware is a bit janky, the overall software side is very nice and does exactly what it is supposed to do. I am able to stream from my PS5 to this device on my home wi-fi. It's great as I don't always have access to the tv. It's also nice that I can play PS4 games as well (on the ps5 of course). It basically is a mirrored display and works like the remote function from the ps vita. I was able to go into different rooms and the quality pretty much held with little to no input lag what so ever. There were moments of a blotchy image but it was very rare in the few hours I've played with it. Overall, if you are looking to remote play in your home without getting a secondary controller for your phone, this is a good option. I wish I could play games natively on it as playing psp and vita games would have been excellent for this. Oh well, a good remote device overall.

My 10 year old loves this device. It's portable, screen quality is good etc. The downside is the internet connection is really sketchy. It doesn't matter where we are it cuts out regularly. I assume this is an issue with all devices.

Great decision to purchase this item. I love my Playstation and being able to literally take it on the road with me is great. Works perfect with my cellular hotspot and all my games are available to me. Great graphics and the controllers also feel great.

The travel case is good and the protective wrap is fine but it makes it diffuse to charge the Portal on the charging station when it's on. Charging station seems to work decent enough as long as the Portal has solid contact with the adapter. Not a bad purchase.
