My son loves his “PlayStation on the go”as he calls it. There’s only one minor issue, the battery life isn’t that long but it’s a great product overall

This device is great to have on the go. Works best if you subscribe to Playstation premium and have a MYFI or Hotspot that gives off enough speeds to stream.

Works perfectly on my home WiFi. Took about 15 minutes to get it updated and connected then it was game time. Battery lasts about 3 hours but that may vary. Fast shipping I ordered it on a Friday and had it by Monday.

quality was good. screen big. wasn't too heavy. however- connection took forever at times even if i was in the same house. can't imagine how bad it would be if i was away from home, which was originally the whole reason i thought about getting one. also laggy during gameplay if wifi wasn't top tier

Sony really upgraded this so much this year with the software updates. Being able to play games directly from cloud is awesome. This feels like a standalone handheld device now.

Great way to play on the go, only missing a star for the fact there is a bit of input lag which makes playing very competitive games frustrating. Hopefully can be resolved with a future software update.

My grandson loved the game he got really exited when i got home with it.
He plays the game after he gets from school but first he needs to finish he's homework and then he can play the game for only 2 hr.And he is very happy after he plays the game connected to the PS5.
And i'm happy also to se my grandson happy as well.
I thank Best Buy for my grandson happiness.
Tks.

I finally got my hands on one and I can’t put it down! Having my PlayStation on the go with me is DEFINITELY a plus. Doctor’s appointments, my workplace and even on flights! Wherever there’s WiFi, my Portal and I will be there!

The PlayStation Portal is unfortunately not a great option for FPS gamers due to several limitations. The most significant issue is noticeable input lag, which makes precise aiming and quick reactions difficult. This problem is compounded by connectivity issues; even with a strong connection (my internet 500 mbps) to the modem, the Portal tends to lag whenever you move even slightly away from the router. These combined factors make playing fast paced, competitive FPS games on the Portal a frustrating experience.

I was hesitant at first because it is a remote player but it is really worth it! The input lag is barely noticeable and the fact it can remote play anywhere is nice. There is some frame rate drops if there is a lot happening on the screen but it isn't too bad. If you want to play PS5 but also want to go out or play anywhere else this is totally worth it.
Using the Portal much more than i thought i ever w

I was very very hesitant to get the Portal, i wasnt sure i would use it enough to make it worth it, nor was i sure if it worked well due to a lot of reviews saying its laggy and takes a lot of time to connect. I am pleased to say it is SO worth it!
The over all build of the portal is great, at first glance i thought it looked fragile and cheaply made, but it is much sturdier than i thought. The controller grips feel exactly the same as the duelsense controllers, just with slightly smaller control sticks.
Lets just say my internet at my house is patchy at best. My provider is very unreliable but its the only option in my area. With that being said in my house i have no connection issues with the portal and very little lag (only stutters if we have a bunch of devices on the wifi at once and "high traffic times" when close neighbors' signals jam up), but that was maybe one or two nights. I also had issues getting disconnected from the wifi one night but im chalking that up to the service provider and not the portal!
Over all i would say, if you would like to play PS5 as your tv is taken up by a significant other or you want to watch something as you game, the portal is for you. If you want to go lay in bed and play a bit before falling asleep, its for you. If you travel (to places with wifi) its for you. I didnt think id use it as much as i have, i originally thought "oh its not for me", but i have found myself making excuses to use the Portal. I have run a variety of games on it, from simple games like PS classic games and Stardew Valley, to more demanding games like FF7 rebirth demo, God of War Ragnorok, etc. All have worked perfectly.
The screen is bright and looks great even for just an lcd. One down point is the fact that the lowest volume setting on it is still VERY loud, so if im playing in bed and my fiancee wants to read, i end up needing headphones, which you can use a 3.5mm wired headphones, but not bluetooth!
If you have the means to get one and are able to snag one as its in stock, do it! Its very worth it for even casual gamers!

The PlayStation Portal Remote Player does exactly what it sets out to do — provide a premium remote-play experience for your PS5. It nails the controller-feel, screen size, and ergonomics. However, it doesn’t attempt to be everything (and that’s both its strength and its limitation). Because it’s heavily dependent on network conditions and the PS5 remains the “engine”, you’ll only get the best experience if your infrastructure is up to scratch.
So, if you’re a PS5 user, you have a good home network, and you frequently find yourself wanting to play away from the TV — go for it. But if you were hoping for a full handheld console alternative to the PS5, you might be underwhelmed.

Good product if you don't have a dedicated TV to play games on. Streaming is ok, but streams from PS5 box - I am not yet able to get games to stream otherwise.
