Great gift for new Dads
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this portable! I understand there are many options for portable gaming with PS5, but this one for me has been the best. The screen is a comfortable size for traveling, as well as gaming, and the controllers are very similar to ones with the home system. I did have to give it 4/5 due to the internet connection; My house has really strong connection, but even I have noticed choppy service here and there, which has affected my overall experience, Nevertheless, I think it’s a great portable system ad I can’t wait to see what Sony does to make it progress.

Do yourkids always use your tv?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do you have excellent wifi? And do you often find the tv your PS5 is connected to hogged by other family members? Then this is for you. I find that runs really well about 60% of the time where it's gorgeous and HD looking, about 30% of the time it runs well enough, and 10% it looks like a blurry drunken potato. Your wifi will effect this.

Portal’s a win
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pro’s - Smooth streaming experience if you’re paying for it. Remote play works great. Screen is amazing. Much lighter than you’d think. Buttons and sticks feel great. Drawbacks - Speakers aren’t awesome. Sony not allowing traditional Bluetooth connection for wireless audio is dumb, especially considering their pulse options are terrible.

Perfect On-the-Go Companion for PlayStation Fans
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're a PlayStation enthusiast looking for a way to keep the game going even when you're away from your console, the PlayStation Portal is an absolute must-have. It's seriously fun to use, bringing your PS5 games to life wherever you are with a crisp screen that hits the sweet spot—not too big, not too small, just perfect for handheld gaming. Battery life is impressive too—it holds a charge for hours, which means you can dive deep into your favorite games without worrying about constantly plugging in. And with the addition of cloud play, it’s become an even better value. Whether you’re lounging in bed, hanging out in another room, or on the move with solid Wi-Fi, this thing just works. If you’re already in the PlayStation ecosystem and want a seamless way to enjoy your games outside of the living room, the PlayStation Portal is a no-brainer. It’s easily one of the most fun and practical accessories Sony has released in a while. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this when I bought it but after a few weeks with it I'm glad that I did.

An Awesome Accessory
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are already in a PS ecosystem and you share a main TV with a spouse or roommate, the Portal is a great accessory. Allows you to access and play your console anywhere you have an internet connection and it works well. There is some latency that will be noticed on games that require lots of precision timing, but many many games work wonderfully on it. Sony also just updated the firmware to allow cloud streaming if you have the requisite PS+ Premium tier subscription.

Playstation portal
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I actually love this product. Now i know that its gotten a lot of heat for not being a stand alone device but being that i can play my game from anywhere as long as the wifi is great ill take it. I can say that the portal feels like im playing with one of my ps5 dual sense controllers wirh adaptive triggers and a super led screen in the middle. Honestly its like having a ps5 in the palm of your hand. Just remembered that if the wifi connection isnt strong then you might become frustrated with the lag or the reoccurrence of reconnecting.

MVP in my PS setup
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a little skeptical at first about how much I’d actually use the PlayStation Portal Remote Player, but now I can’t imagine gaming without it! This device has completely changed the way I play, and it’s perfect for those moments when the TV is tied up or I just want to game from the comfort of another room. The setup was super simple—just a quick connection to my PS5, and I was good to go. The gameplay experience is incredibly smooth. The crisp display and responsive controls make it feel just like playing directly on the console. Even games with more demanding inputs handle perfectly, with minimal lag. What really surprised me is how comfortable it is to hold for extended gaming sessions. The design feels well-balanced, and the buttons and triggers have the same premium feel I’ve come to expect from Sony. It’s like having the DualSense controller and a beautiful screen combined in one seamless package. One thing I love is the flexibility it offers. Whether I’m gaming from bed, the kitchen, or even out on the patio, I’ve got my PS5 right there with me. It’s also great for keeping the peace in a shared household—I can still enjoy my games without monopolizing the TV! If you’re on the fence about this, I’d say go for it. The PlayStation Portal Remote Player is an absolute game-changer for any PS5 owner. It’s been worth every penny for the added convenience and freedom it provides. Highly recommend!

Better than expected
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ill preface my review by saying I have two kids, a wife, and one tv. My gaming time is limited but I try to make an effort to ger some game time in each week because it’s something I love doing. The Playstation Portal works much better than I anticipated. Is it perfect? No, but I’m surprised by the ease of use, comfortability, relatively low input lag and build quality. If you have a PS5, share a tv with your family and have your router connected via ethernet I believe this is a no brainer. The only reason I didn’t rate this 5 stars is because of lack of bluetooth. It’s not a deal breaker by any means as the pros heavily outweigh the cons.

Playstation portable remote review
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently got my hands on the Sony PlayStation Portal Remote, and I have to say, it's a game changer for any serious gamer! From the moment I unboxed it, I could tell that Sony paid a lot of attention to detail. The sleek design is inviting, boasting the iconic PlayStation colors while still being comfortable to hold for those extended gaming marathons. Setting it up was incredibly straightforward! It seamlessly connected to my PS5 without any hassle—thank you, Sony, for keeping things user-friendly! The remote gives you direct access to all your favorite applications and games, making it so easy to switch between them without fumbling through menus. I absolutely love the dedicated buttons for popular services like Netflix and Spotify; it saves me tons of time! One of the standout features for me is the responsiveness of the buttons. They have a satisfying click that provides a tactile feedback which helps improve my overall gaming experience, especially during intense real-time matches. The remote is also surprisingly lightweight, so I don’t experience wrist fatigue after hours of gripping it while snugged up on the couch. One of my favorite aspects has been the ability to power on my console from the remote as well; it's perfect for those spontaneous gaming moments—imagine quickly turning on your PS5 after a long day at work and diving into your immersive world without the extra effort of getting up! As for troubleshooting, I’ve faced no hiccups whatsoever. The signal range is excellent, and I can control my PS5 even from a different room, which is impressive and adds a level of convenience that keeps me coming back for more use. In conclusion, if you're a PlayStation enthusiast like myself, the Sony PlayStation Portal Remote is a must-have. It not only elevates your gaming experience but also makes it more enjoyable and comfortable. Highly recommend it to anyone looking to enhance their setup!

Portable PS5 aka the Dadstation 5!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Perfect for gaming at home while the family uses the TV. The device is the perfect add on for the core ps5 gamer who has to share tv with the family or roommates. Big screen, full style controller with rumble and haptics, portable with good battery. The best experience is achieved by ensuring you have a great wifi router (don’t use the ones that come with your ISP, get a high quality router/mesh network) and your ps5 plugged in via Ethernet. This is will Ensure minimal lag across your home. It’s becoming my favorite way to play. Wife loves that I can play in the bedroom while she sleeps or watches tv. No negatives this far. Hope they make them in different colors!

Almost perfect.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the money it does everything it states. It can be a little laggy from at the start but 98% of the time is great. Give a 4 star just because now having it I can see the potential of what it should do. If it had any kind of offline game storage, even if it was for classic games it would be amazing.

Surprised at how well it worked
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was hesitant at first that there would be lag because these work by essentially streaming the game however that proved to be very minor. I was surprised by just how little lag and how well it played. Bought it to take my gaming with me while I'm traveling and it works very well.

Solid portable
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a father of two. My time on the TV is limited to when it's not showing Disney +. If your PS5 is connected to a wired network this device runs flawlessly. For my use case of being able to play my games in my house without using the TV this is perfect. Even considering the price of the PS5 it's still way cheaper than the new Legion GO and the flagship version of the Xbox ROG. It plays incredibly smooth, I haven't noticed a frame rate drop, and only the very rare drop in visual quality

Play on when away!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fits well in my hands, lightweight, good grip, very nice display and graphics, same size of a PS4 controller just cut in half. Add a skin for greater grip and control. Plays really well at home on the internal wifi, plays well when away on a hotel wifi, just don't try to use a phone hot spot unless you don't mind lags in the video and a *massive* drain on your data plan. I tested on my phone with a 10GB data sharing plan and in 10 minutes had half a gig of data used, so the math means 200 minutes, which is about one night's worth of play. Really good value compared to other portable platforms, charges quickly and holds the charge well. Whatever you have on your home console is what you're able to play, even digitally downloaded games.

great device for on the go
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i travel a lot for work and it is not always possible to bring the entire console query c me. being able to play playstation exclusives and utilize my playstation 5 while away from home has been an awesome experience. recent updates to this unit has also made it possible to cloud stream the available library that comes included with a PS Plus Premium membership, providing a more consistent quality than remote streaming, also making it so this unit can function as a standalone device without technically needing a PS5 to use, as was the cade prior. i give this unit an 8/10 rating for it's functionality, quality of build, and convenience.

Fun with drawbacks.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Listing the cons first: - First and foremost, the most important thing, the Wi-Fi signal and input lag. You will always have some form of lag, no matter how good the Wi-Fi signal and your settings are. even though it’s very small, it is still there indeed. - To pick it back off the first one you cannot play competitive style games online and by that I mean, due to the input lag. Sure, it will work, but I don’t see portal players coming out on top. - even though the screen is a decent size, the The joy cons are considerably smaller than a PS5 controller giving you less surface area to grip your thumbs. The grip is smaller too. - The charging port, it’s integrated in the back of the screen and dented into the frame. It makes charging and unplugging with the supplied cable, not challenging, but not as easy. -you are unable to connect headsets, but the portal does work with the PS buds that came out recently. Now for the pros: - The first important pro for me was the amount of fun I had away from my console. Due to the first con, I was at home, but still had plenty of fun around the house. - It’s battery lasted a good 7 1/2 hours from a full charge. Brightness and volume were up so assuming it could last longer if those are taken into consideration. - My son dropped it from about 3 feet and I was surprised that it did not have any cracks or dents into the screen or frame. So it is somewhat durable. -it is in fact, fun using it with games that are single player, like God of war, and Spider-Man. In my opinion, and in this Review I give it Four stars and the reason for that is because the fun I had using this thing. If it wasn’t for that, it would be three stars because the portal is not needed by a true gamer where there is a lot to account for and this system has too many of those cons. But all in all, I still recommend it to those who are curious enough.

Neat toy to take your PS 5 remotely … somewhat
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A nice little luxury that is very much a nice-to-have, and not a critical item, but is a handy addition to the PlayStation ecosystem with the right setup. Use case for me is to accommodate some of the same use cases as Switch - take it in handheld mode when you want to do some casual gaming or grinding in a game while having the TV on (or when someone else does). Performance will very much hinge on your Ethernet/Wifi set up (best w/ Ethernet to PlayStation & strong WiFi signal w/ limited barriers between you & router). A twitch shooter might be tough to play remotely or in a far off room (manifesting as visual quality degradation), but a more casual game or grinding in Borderlands can be fine. As always with Sony, there are some quirky design decisions (volume buttons; hidden power button that ALSO needs a PlayStation button that doesn’t function as your main system’s PS button; no haptic press on screen - a virtual trackpad instead that requires new muscle memory to replicate a press on standard pad). BUT - if you’ve need to satisfy the itch to play in random spots in the house (within reason), it’s a neat little toy.

Perfect device if your network is setup correctly
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Any review complaining about connectivity or latency issues and all due to an incorrectly configured network. With my PS5 hardwired via ethernet to my modem, and high quality router, and a low number of devices connected to my network’s 5 ghz band, this device is flawless. I love to game, but also don’t want to be cooped up in my office all the time. I can sit in the living room, be around my family, have some background TV on, and pop onto my PS Portal to play some games when we are all winding down. Extremely satisfied with this device. It’s lightweight, nice battery life, and a beautiful screen.
