Amazing Device

Good for the price
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The travel case is good and the protective wrap is fine but it makes it diffuse to charge the Portal on the charging station when it's on. Charging station seems to work decent enough as long as the Portal has solid contact with the adapter. Not a bad purchase.

Watch for poor WiFi setups
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love having my ps games portable. The screen is the right size compared to my iPhone previously. I think the WiFi issues are not great. The portal uses ps remote same WiFi as your home network which competes with others using the same WiFi. My internet is gigabit but my slow Google wifi creates network contention. It has pretty poor WiFi reception on top of that. When no one’s streaming it works great.

Good, but not great, latency is notable in gameplay
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PlayStation Portal is a good companion device for the PS5, but it cannot fully replace a PS5. The device relies heavily on streaming from your console, which causes a noticeable delay when playing video games. Also, for some reason, some of your DualSense controls will not transfer to the PS Portal, which can be annoying for the game you're trying to play.

May be useful if your wife is using the TV
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device is beautiful and it feels wonderful in your hands, but the screen is outdated and the colors feel washed out. It can stream games, but it requires a PS Premium membership which is an additional $17.99/month on top of the price of the device. Remote play is an option if you have a PS5, but you pretty much have to be at home to play it. I had issues connecting this device to my iPhone's wifi hotspot, but apparently, that is an issue with T-Mobile, and not with Sony. I just couldn't justify the price for the value I was getting with this device.

Ps portal review
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PlayStation Portal is a sleek $199 handheld designed for streaming your PS5 games over Wi-Fi. It features a crisp 8” 1080p LCD screen and full DualSense controls—including adaptive triggers and haptic feedback—built right into the device. While it doesn’t run games locally and requires a PS5 and stable internet, it delivers smooth, low-latency remote play with excellent image quality. Battery life is around 4–5 hours, and while it lacks Bluetooth audio, it supports wired headphones and Sony’s PS Link. If you want to keep gaming when someone else is using the TV, the Portal is a convenient, well-made companion.

Works great, gaming anywhere in the house
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This little guy allows me to game anywhere in the house. Visual look good and can stream any game o have on my PS5. Does require good WiFi signal throughout the house but if you got it this provides gaming freedom. Haven't tried the cloud gaming feature yet but will give it a try soon. Great for multitasking. Game on my portal and computer and watch Netflix all at the same time with only 2 monitors

Excellent for Playstation Owners
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The controls fit perfectly in your hands unlike the switch. The battery life is really good. The graphics are amazing and I didn’t really see any lag while playing as llong as you have a good WiFi connection. If you are someone who wants to play while your tv is in use, or just to play on the couch or elsewhere in the house vs being front of the tv or monitor its a great device.

Sony does it again!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Perfect for gaming on the go! Great handheld, works at its best if your console at home is hardwired but will certainly stream clear with a strong Wi-Fi connection. Perfect for when I’m on the road traveling for work.

Like the idea
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.PS Portal is okay. Most people don't talk about the fact that the joysticks themselves are smaller than the actual PS5 dual sense controller,so it makes it harder to play fps games. Like the build quality and the idea behind the portal but between the bad connection for hotspot AT&T 5G Turbo with full bars and the smaller joysticks I ended up returning it. Also my PS5 pro is hooked up to Ethernet on the 6ghz WiFi 6e band. At home it worked fine, but I wanted something while I'm away so now I just use remote play on my laptop with a spare controller and have a much better experience.

Essential for traveling gamers
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As long as you got a good stable wifi its great! Nothing like joining in fighting for democracy on Helldivers 2 with friends no matter where I am at. Comfortable to hold, great battery life and ensures im not using my phone for remote play and wasting its use.

surprisingly capable device.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's actually a fairly solid device that has surprised me. It can still be better. For the price and the functionality, it is pretty impressive. What really surprised me was that I was at my friends house 50 miles away in the next county. He has very good internet and solid wifi connectivity at his house. I was trying to show him the thing by connecting to his PS5. And that did not work well at all, in fact it got stuck and I had trouble getting out of an error screen. Then when I finally was able to get back to the home screen, it did something I wasn't expecting. After about 30 seconds. It told me that it had connected to my PS5 back home. A bit surprised I connected and proceeded to play a Contra demo, which requires some decent quickness to play the game well enough to beat it. And then I showed my friend the FF7 Rebirth demo, set the game to performance mode because there's no point playing a 30fps mode when the resolution is set to 1080p. And it ran at a slightly stuttered 60fps mode. Some odd artifacts from time to time, but overall. I was playing a very nice high production game at a very smooth framerate. My friend immediately took notice and became interested in the device. Obviously it boils down to you being somewhere with a good wifi connection and also having a good overall inter et connection. But for $200, you can play some really nice games that run good enough to actually play them. The only thing I am still disappointed is the battery life. Bit eventually you will go somewhere where there's a wall plug

A Fun But Flawed Device
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PS Portal is certainly not for everyone. I think it only appeals to a small variety of people. Remote Play seems to be only popular with hardcore Playstation gamers. I got it because my parents watch a lot of TV, sometimes they binge watch shows for hours and I get bored and sometimes want to play a game or if i'm playing something that is inappropriate or something not of their tastes I would play the PS Portal on that specific game. When it works it works, but I recommend connecting it to a 5G network as I ended up doing, not a 2 GHZ network. While the overall functions are good it's a shame the Streaming services seem to be blocked and that would have been a great selling point to stream shows on the PS Portal as it has a really great screen and very useful when you need it. It isn't perfect but there is certainly room for improvement.

Great Christmas Gift
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for my brother for Christmas and he loves it. Now he can play his PS5 games anywhere in the house, allowing him to join us in the living room when we're watching something he's not very interested in. And he set it up quickly and independently.

Portal gang
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I personally like the playstation portal. It’s comfortable to hold and convenient to use around the house especially if you have kids. One downfall is it doesn’t connect to the PlayStation sometimes even when on rest mode. So make sure you got somebody home to restart your PlayStation, in case you can’t connect away from home. I played Spider-Man Miles Morales flawlessly along with Mortal Kombat 1. I can’t wait till they add cloud streaming.

Great device but could be better
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This cater to a very specific audience. If you’re out of the house and around WiFi this is a great thing to own. Wish it was Bluetooth, wish the input lag was a little better and wish you could install apps. I reach for this when I’m not at home and I need to grind a couple of weekly challenges before the week is out. Hopefully one day an update makes this a standalone device

Best purchase I have made in a long time!!!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is one of the best purchases that I have EVER made!!! I am 59 years old and gaming help me to come down after a long day at work and when I travel for work it helps to still be able to connect to my PS5 and play a game or two for an hour, and that's where the PlayStation portable comes in. I can connect to mt PS5 from wherever I am or I can stream games from my PlayStation Plus account. Great purchase. I recommend.

Blew my mind!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PS Portal is everything it is hyped up to be. I was skeptical, but it’s universally praised views on youtube(a platform where the tiniest flaws turns into an hour of non-stop complaining) sold me on getting it and it did not disappoint. Allows the family to watch something on the TV while I’m playing a game of NCAA 26. Go get it!!!!
