The truth about the PlayStation portal is that despite the fact that as far as I'm concerned no matter how you configure your network and all of the things that you will eventually find out online when you researched it they tell you to do to make it work in the best. There is going to be some input lag. I wouldn't recommend using this for advanced online play this is not something that you want to go play call of duty on. But the ability to take your games and do some lower level things and all of the things that you need to do from the comfort of your couch or the bathroom or wherever you use it you can't beat it. To me it is still indispensable and if I ever could find a way to get rid of that input lag it would be constant use

Was hesitant at first that there would be lag because these work by essentially streaming the game however that proved to be very minor. I was surprised by just how little lag and how well it played. Bought it to take my gaming with me while I'm traveling and it works very well.

If you are already in a PS ecosystem and you share a main TV with a spouse or roommate, the Portal is a great accessory. Allows you to access and play your console anywhere you have an internet connection and it works well. There is some latency that will be noticed on games that require lots of precision timing, but many many games work wonderfully on it. Sony also just updated the firmware to allow cloud streaming if you have the requisite PS+ Premium tier subscription.

The screen looks great, gameplay is smooth, and it’s super easy to connect to your PS5. It’s perfect for playing when the TV is in use or when you just want to relax somewhere else. As long as you have a good Wi-Fi connection, it works really well. Great add-on for any PS5 owner!

Squeezing in some PS5 Pro-ing away from the living room is great for any middle-aged gamer. Instead of feeling like I occasionally hog the TV, couch, and living room just to notch another hour of 120 hour or so on FF7: Rebirth. Or play my backlog of great indie hits like Dredge or Disco Elysium, I can just remote play anywhere in my home—like in the kitchen with my coffee while the eggs and bacon are on the skillet, or at night in bed with Powerwash Simulator or Sea of Stars and tea to wind down. Like many Sony fanboys and fan girls, I was pretty skeptical the device would work better than trying to stream PS4 games to your phone some years back (Backbone, anyone?). No it’s not the Vita 2, but as someone who’s only ever owned the Vita and Portable handhelds back in the day, there’s something far more intimate about PS5 Pro-ing on a device inches from your face instead of on a TV on the other side of a room. Yeah, no worries about somebody cutting back and forth in front of your game during pivotal cutscenes you’ve literally spent 100s of hours and the better part of the year reaching. It’s laughable but last I heard, there’s still no Bluetooth support and no—Sony’s upsell with those expensive earbuds won’t get a nibble out of me. You also can’t watch YouTube on it or your other streaming apps. No web browser either. Its sole function seems to be making sure that Last of Us Part 1 and Sony’s other first-party titles like Spider-Man 2 run as smooth as possible on the Portal. Portal isn’t for everyone, but if you’re someone who finds it harder and harder to put in gaming time as you get older, the device is totally worth owning. It feels very sturdy, but its awkward shape has caused me to drop it once or twice by the handle. If you decide to plunge into the Portalverse, do yourself a favor and buy a hard case for the handheld. I imagine accidentally sitting on a Portal is not quite the same as sitting on your phone.

For the money it does everything it states. It can be a little laggy from at the start but 98% of the time is great. Give a 4 star just because now having it I can see the potential of what it should do. If it had any kind of offline game storage, even if it was for classic games it would be amazing.

I purchased the PlayStation Portal for my daughter's birthday, and I have to say, it’s been a game-changer for her gaming experience. From the moment she opened it, she was thrilled with the sleek design and the promise of seamless gaming access. Setting up the device was straightforward, and within minutes, she was ready to start playing. The remote play feature works incredibly well, allowing her to stream her PS5 games directly to the Portal with minimal lag.

It excels as a high-quality remote play device with comfortable ergonomics and full DualSense controller features like haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. However, its primary limitations are its lack of Bluetooth audio support, reliance on your PS5 for local streaming, and the fact that it has no local storage and cannot play games offline. Recent updates have added cloud streaming and public Wi-Fi support, making it more versatile, but a reliable internet connection remains critical for a good experience

This is a great device to use when you dont want to turn on your TV and disturb family/roomates. It's super nice that you can go anywhere with it as long as you have a wifi connection and the PS app, though I definitely use it mostly at my home juat because its more convenient than the TV.

It was hard to get, but I made it! This was a birthday present for my boyfriend. I got to pick it up before the day. It works perfectly fine as of now. We got a cover for it and a carry on bag. Quality of the screen is good. Just as advertised. He is very happy with his gift. (PS. its not scratched, it just has a cat hair LOL)

The portal is everything I wanted it to be. I don't take it out of my house so I can't comment on use at a distance but for me to just get tired of sitting in one spot, I can just get up and take it with me to another room. I love it

I didn’t expect to love this thing as much as I did. It runs shockingly well and way better than I expected a streaming device to. I’m genuinely impressed how well it works with any game I’ve played on it so far, from fps, RPGs and even MMOs (FFXIV). There’s nothing more I can really say about it. It just works. Just keep in mind, as with any and every streaming device, your experience and enjoyment with it will depend on your ISP. If you have a good internet provider and speed, your experience will reflect mine. If your internet isn’t quite up to the task, your experience will most likely not be as robust as mine is.

I love my PS portal, but just know what it’s uses and limits are before purchasing. When my main tv is in use being able to lay on the couch and play my PS5 is priceless. Also the quality of build is excellent and the screen is immaculate. If you’re on the fence go for it!

It's a great product unfortunately even with my fiber optic Internet any slight loss in signal results in unplayable quality and lag. I think with cloud it would have better use
