I bought this as a Christmas gift for my husband-- he absolutely loves it! During peak internet usage times, we do experience a little bit of lag with the interface, but the rest of the time it is a smooth experience! (The RGB was a nice, unexpected touch) I highly recommend this PSP!

Perfect! The PlayStation Portable remains a standout handheld, offering impressive graphics, solid controls, and a strong library of classic titles. Its multimedia features and durable build add appeal. Battery life is decent, though outdated now. Still, for retro gaming fans, the PSP delivers a fun, portable experience even today overall great.

Device is definitely fun for at home gaming. connects to ps5 through remote play, and allows PS Plus streaming games with strong Wifi. Haven’t taken it while traveling, but hopefully it does good with Wifi on the go! Brings back memories from PSP. Sony should definitely do a 4k version.

This was even better than expected. So far, I’ve only used it at my mom’s house and her WiFi is extremely spotty. Even with this being the case, the portal has ran very smooth for an entire day with very few connection issues rising. I can’t wait to take it home and connect it to my fiber internet

After many years of streaming games, using every service and device imaginable, I can confidently say this is the best platform and experience hands down. I've switched full-time to the PS Portal! The quality of the games, the stream, and the input responsiveness are all best in class. I'm currently playing ARC Raiders and loving it. And yes, all of that is on the Portal, with no PS5 necessary!

I'm absolutely loving my PlayStation Portal!* I bought it on Best Buy, and it was definitely worth the amount The setup was a breeze, taking only about 5 minutes to get up and running. The remote play connection is surprisingly smooth, even on Wi-Fi. The 8-inch LCD screen is crisp and vibrant, making games look amazing.

My Husband’s New Favorite “Third Wheel”

I bought this for my husband, thinking it would keep him happy on days when he couldn’t hog the big TV mission accomplished! The PlayStation Portal is basically a magic mirror that beams the PS5 straight to his hands, letting him play in bed, on the couch, or while I’m watching my shows. Peace was restored in our marriage immediately. Setup was painless (even he figured it out without a YouTube tutorial), and the streaming quality is surprisingly smooth as long as you have good Wi-Fi. The controls feel almost exactly like a DualSense, which made the transition seamless. Downsides? Well, now he’s playing everywhere which means I occasionally have to fight for his attention, but that’s a small price to pay for a happy gamer husband. If you want to treat your gamer partner (and maybe even keep your TV to yourself), the PlayStation Portal is absolutely worth it. Just be warned: you might need to schedule your date nights around their remote gaming marathons! :)

The PlayStation Portal is a good alternative to play PS5 games remotely with wireless connectivity. It’s sleek, simple to use, and ideal for players who want to game away from the TV—but it has some limitations. When playing GTA 5 online you do get some lagging but it’s not terrible.

If you are like me who likes to play but don't want to get out of bed, this is a perfect addition to your PS5, it is practically a PS5 controller with a screen, you can play any game without having to move from your most comfortable place

Are you in bed, feeling a little sleepy, but can’t resist the PS5 calling to you from the living room? Don't worry about disturbing anyone with the TV light—this device has got your back! As a dad, husband, and remote worker, I understand how tricky it can be to squeeze in gaming time. The PSR has been a game-changer for me, allowing me to enjoy my favorite games while the family is sound asleep, all without interrupting their peace. I find myself using it more often than I realize because I genuinely love its lightweight design and stunning screen. Here’s hoping for a PS5 Vita in the near future, as that would be an incredible addition! Great value and quality all around. Gamer Dad Approved!

This Handheld Device has been the best gaming purchase I ever made! I can walk around my house freely and continue to game , or even when my neck gets sore from looking up at the tv this device allows me to play more comfortably. Very exceptional updates every month as well and it doesn’t lag and depends on the WiFi connection .

The Portal connects to my PS5 so easily it feels suspicious. Games load fast, and somehow I can play and watch at the same time. I came here to relax, not unlock a new level of multitasking I didn’t ask for but here we are.

The PlayStation Portal is a fantastic device for gamer parents. You get to play your games anywhere, full Dual Sense functionality, and easy to setup and use. If you have ever used PS Remote Play, the experience will be very similar. With a device like this, your experience is dependent on how good your WiFi is. Unlike using remote play on your phone or tablet that has mobile connectivity (4g or 5g), the portal can be limiting when on the go. However, connecting to your phones mobile hotspot works great as well. To compare using the PlayStation Portal to say the Backbone One, ergonomicly the Portal is miles better in terms of comfort of use. The Backbone One definitely has its situational uses, but as a person with larger than than normal hands the controls felt extremely cramped so it's a vast improvement in that regard. Comparing how gameplay works on both, the experience will nearly identical in terms of connectivity. One down side to the Portal is that it uses the same remote play functionality as the app on your phone which is kind of a bummer, but overall my experience on both devices have been great, both on WiFi and on mobile. Is the PlayStation Portal perfect? No. Is it a useless device that the internet has been bashing? No. The Portal isn't for everyone, and is definitely targeted to those that can't always use the TV or dedicate hours of couch time for a gaming session. Some negatives that I have with the device are it's battery life and no Bluetooth connectivity. If you have ever used a Dual Sense controller before, you know how fast those batteries drain during gaming sessions, the Portal is no different unfortunately. With no dedicated graphics hardware or really any power sucking hardware (other than really the screen) you get your standard Sony 4-5 hours of use between charges. When having multiple mini gaming sessions throughout the day, I'm always looking for a charger. One major omission the Portal has is that there is no standard Bluetooth connectivity. The only way to connect to it is to either use wired headsets (which some may prefer) or buy Sony's PS Link compatible headsets which an additional cost on top of the Portals $200 price point. There are work arounds for using wireless headsets but it requires connecting a dongle to your PS5 and connecting your headphones to it, but you're limited by the range of the Bluetooth and how far away you get from your console which is really unfortunate. Even with some of the drawbacks, I really enjoy the PlayStation Portal and use it almost exclusively for gaming sessions. I haven't personally experienced any connectivity issues, drops, or disconnects but your milage may vary depending on your Internet connection. Happy gaming!

The PlayStation Portal is Sony's innovative response to the expanding market for portable gaming, targeted at providing a high-fidelity gaming experience on the go, directly competing with devices like the Nintendo Switch. Here's a detailed review of the PlayStation Portal, breaking down its design, performance, game library, and overall user experience. ### Design and Build Quality The PlayStation Portal features a sleek and ergonomic design that seems to prioritize comfort and durability. Its chassis is sturdy, likely made from a high-grade plastic with a matte finish that not only feels good in the hands but also minimizes fingerprints and smudges. The device boasts a large, vibrant screen that delivers crisp visuals, enhancing the immersive experience of high-resolution games. Button placement is thoughtful, with controls that feel responsive and are intuitively laid out, similar to a traditional PlayStation controller. ### Performance and Battery Life Under the hood, the PlayStation Portal is powered by a custom chipset capable of delivering near-console-level performance. This allows it to run more graphically intensive games that are usually reserved for home consoles. Load times are impressively short, and the gameplay is smooth, with consistent frame rates even in more demanding titles. Battery life, however, is a mixed bag. While Sony claims up to 8 hours of playtime, real-world usage tends to be closer to 5-6 hours when playing more intensive games, which is decent but may not suffice for long commutes or travel without access to a charger. ### Game Library and Compatibility One of the strongest selling points of the PlayStation Portal is its game library. It not only supports a vast array of new titles specifically designed for the device but also offers compatibility with a significant number of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 games. This backward compatibility is a massive win for users who have already invested in PlayStation's ecosystem. Moreover, Sony has ensured that the Portal integrates seamlessly with the PlayStation Network for multiplayer gaming, digital downloads, and streaming services, making it a versatile device for all kinds of entertainment. ### Connectivity and Additional Features The PlayStation Portal includes various connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and optional 4G or 5G capabilities. This ensures players can stay connected for multiplayer games and can also stream games from their console at home, leveraging Sony's Remote Play feature. The device also sports additional features like a built-in microphone, stereo speakers, and a headphone jack, enhancing the audio experience for both multiplayer communication and solo play. ### Price and Availability The pricing of the PlayStation Portal is competitive, considering its features and capabilities. It's positioned as a premium device but offers good value given its extensive library and high-end gaming potential. ### Conclusion Overall, the PlayStation Portal stands out as a powerful portable gaming device that successfully bridges the gap between handheld play and console experience. Its ergonomic design, robust game library, and solid performance make it a compelling choice for gamers looking to take their favorite games on the road. While battery life could be better and the price point may be steep for some, the PlayStation Portal delivers an unmatched portable gaming experience that could well justify the investment for serious gamers.

Works well but depends entirely on your Wi-Fi

Overall, I really like the PlayStation Portal Remote Player; however, even with decent WiFi, I experience a lot of connection issues in specific rooms of my house. I have a brick house with brick interior walls, but my mesh WiFi system does a great job of giving good WiFi throughout; however, in the room where my modem and router are located, I'll constantly have connection issues just 20 feet from them. All major devices in that room are connected to my modem and/or router by ethernet, so it's really odd. In other rooms, I almost never deal with connection issues. When that's the case, this is exactly what I want in a portable: comfortable, fast, and good looking. You'll need to clean it regularly though: fingerprints and oils are quite noticeable!
