I did a lot of homework on this device before buying it and so I knew that it’s not a perfect device, but I also knew I could still have a good time with it. The screen is great, the sound is great, the battery is great. The only issues to be aware of are that because it’s a streaming device, depending on the quality of the Wi-Fi you’re on you may experience lag and you can’t play with wireless headphones unless you either buy Sony’s headphones or use a third-party adapter. Again, however, because I knew these things going into it I still love this thing more than I thought I was going to.

I’ve been using the PlayStation Portal for a few days now and honestly, I like it more than I expected. It feels really comfortable in the hands, pretty much like holding a DualSense, so it didn’t take any time to get used to it. The screen looks great — nice and bright, and games run smoothly as long as your Wi-Fi is good. That’s probably the biggest downside though… if your internet isn’t stable, you’ll definitely notice some lag. It’s not a standalone console, so keep that in mind. You’re basically streaming from your PS5, but for playing around the house or even in bed, it’s super convenient. Battery life is decent, nothing amazing but good enough for a few hours of gaming. Overall, I’d say it’s worth it if you already have a PS5 and a solid internet connection. Not perfect, but still a really cool device.

As a father and husband, my gaming time has reduced, especially having to fight for the TV. The PS Portal is a game changer for me. Not only does it work smoothly, but I even take it to my brothers to play some coop online gaming. No need to lug my ps5 around. Ive been so impressed with the quality of the product. Feels like I'm using a ps5 portable (i am technically). The battery life is great as well. So those long ff7 sessions dont get interrupted. Id recommend this to anyone who wants to play while not being stuck to a TV.

Honestly didn’t think I would like this remote portable controller, I decided to see what all the hype was about it and bought the PS Portal on Black Friday. I must say the screen is bigger than I thought and really clear when gaming. Even though it needs WiFi to work I was amazed how fluid it was and the games played well without too much lag. I recommend this product to some kids or husbands who don’t always have control of the tv and want some downtime to play their library of games. The controller feels light but sturdy and the volume is decent not great. But with some wired headphones you will be great! Overall I love using it when my wife is watching her novellas so whenever you have time even at work give it a shot you’ll have fun!

I was a little hesitant at first with this. I wanted a psp or vita replacement more then a streaming device. With that being said. After owning this for a few weeks now. You can’t really beat the price. $200 for a 1080p 60 fps on a small concentrated screen runs very smooth. One of my favorite features is, that it not only plays digital content you have purchased or through the monthly freebies for having Plus. It plays disks you have inside your ps5. My biggest draw back to this device is that the ps5 has to be reletively close to the portal. Also this is a streaming device so if your internet isnt at least 100-200 mpbs i probably would hold off.

I was lucky enough to get this as a gift and I think it surpassed my expectations. When you have great in home network connections this puppy flies! It feels like playing a game locally and not streaming it. But when you lots of people in your home are using the internet to stream movies, etc, it really bogs down the performance. This feels really comfortable to play with too compared to something like the Switch. And you get the haptics and trigger effects from an actual Dualsense controller. Here is hoping we get an actual PSP in the near future!

I've had the PS Portal for quite some time now and finally decided to share my thoughts on the device. At first, I didn't think I'd be much of a fan of it. Probably used every now and then but it's quickly become more of a preferred way of gaming for me. Comfort (5/5) This thing feels great in the hand, just like many others have said, it feels like like a bigger PS5 controller which is great. Probably the best handheld for ergonomics to use compared to something like a Steam Deck or Legion Go. I have zero issues using this for hour plus play sessions. Screen (4/5) It's no OLED display but for a standard LCD screen it does the job. Screen size obviously being the main factor but it does get decently bright and I have no issues with it. My main use case scenario is indoors so I can't really comment on outside use. Sound (3/5) Not much to say here about the speakers but they're just decent as you'd expect. The lack of Bluetooth support though for other headphones outside of Sony's offering is definitely a bummer though. Connectivity (4/5) For this, I feel like YMMV but for me it works well. Using the Orbi WiFi 6E mesh router setup with symmetrical gigabit fiber internet, PS5 hardwired to the router and I get zero stutters or image quality reduction during play. I've tried it a few time on 5G LTE mobile hotspot and performance is a hit or miss depending on your reception. I wouldn't say it's ideal. Enjoyment (5/5) I would say the main use case scenario for this is being able to play PS5 content in any room of your house. I think it's a joy to be able to play while on the couch watching a sports game, in bed relaxing or sitting in the office kicking back. This is definitely the type of use it was intended for and it wins in this area. Overall, if you like gaming in comfort at home then I'd say this is probably for you. Outside of that it might vary as I don't intend on taking this on the go. If there is one drawback to this device then for me it's definitely the lack of Bluetooth support. I'd like to use my own earbuds as they most definitely sound better than the proprietary earbuds offered but the speakers do just fine for me.

The portal is a must have for me so I can game away from home on trips, or when I want to play anywhere else away from home. The portal plays most of my games effortless with little to no lag. This a great purchase and don’t regret it one bit!

The PlayStation Portal has been a great experience so far. The screen looks sharp, controls feel just like a real DualSense controller, and the Midnight Black color looks amazing in person. It’s very comfortable for long gaming sessions and perfect for playing around the house without using the TV. Setup was simple and performance has been smooth with a stable connection. Definitely recommended for PS5 owners.

I love the PSPortal. It makes gaming on the go easy. Not only is the controller hand-held comfortable and secure but the graphics and screen quality is out of this world. The latency is beautiful and remote gaming has little to no lag. Also the cloud gaming beta feature is a step in the right direction. Great game list. All in all this was a rightful purchase.

Are you in bed, feeling a little sleepy, but can’t resist the PS5 calling to you from the living room? Don't worry about disturbing anyone with the TV light—this device has got your back! As a dad, husband, and remote worker, I understand how tricky it can be to squeeze in gaming time. The PSR has been a game-changer for me, allowing me to enjoy my favorite games while the family is sound asleep, all without interrupting their peace. I find myself using it more often than I realize because I genuinely love its lightweight design and stunning screen. Here’s hoping for a PS5 Vita in the near future, as that would be an incredible addition! Great value and quality all around. Gamer Dad Approved!

I have so many good things to say about the Portal. I genuinely love it. For a handheld the graphics are fantastic. Most importantly, you can get your game on literally anywhere with wifi, which is basically everywhere these days. It feels great in your hand, the sound quality isn't perfect but you would be ridiculous to think it should be in a handheld. Easily worth the price, as a matter of fact you are getting a great value deal for $200. Buy it, seriously. You are doing a disservice to your gaming self and DEMOCRACY if you don't!!!

The PlayStation Portal is a gaming ecosystem that stands head and shoulders above its competitors, offering an unparalleled experience that sets it apart as the premier choice for gamers worldwide. As a dedicated PlayStation enthusiast, I've found the Portal to be not just a gaming console but a gateway to a world of entertainment and innovation that surpasses anything offered by its competitors. First and foremost, the PlayStation Portal boasts a stellar lineup of exclusive games that are second to none. From blockbuster franchises like God of War, Uncharted, and The Last of Us to innovative new titles like Horizon Zero Dawn and Spider-Man, the Portal offers a diverse and compelling library that caters to every type of gamer. These exclusives are not just games; they are experiences that showcase the creativity and craftsmanship of the industry's top developers, setting the PlayStation apart as the platform of choice for gaming excellence. The Portal's hardware is another area where it shines brightly. The PlayStation consoles are known for their cutting-edge technology, delivering breathtaking graphics, smooth performance, and innovative features that enhance the gaming experience. Whether it's the lightning-fast load times of the PlayStation 5's SSD or the immersive gameplay made possible by the DualSense controller's haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, the Portal's hardware is designed to push the boundaries of what's possible in gaming. The PlayStation Network (PSN) is yet another reason why the Portal reigns supreme in the gaming world. PSN offers a robust online multiplayer experience, a vast digital storefront with a wide selection of games, and a range of entertainment options including movies, TV shows, and music. The seamless integration of these features with the gaming experience makes PSN a comprehensive platform that caters to all aspects of entertainment, further cementing the PlayStation Portal's position as the ultimate gaming ecosystem. In comparison to its competitor, the Xbox, the PlayStation Portal stands out in several key areas. While both platforms offer strong gaming libraries, the PlayStation's exclusive titles are often cited as the defining factor that sets it apart. Additionally, the Portal's hardware innovations, such as the DualSense controller, offer a level of immersion and innovation that is unmatched by the Xbox. Furthermore, the PlayStation Network's seamless integration of gaming and entertainment content provides a more comprehensive experience than what is offered by Xbox Live. In conclusion, the PlayStation Portal is the epitome of gaming excellence, offering a combination of exclusive games, cutting-edge hardware, and a comprehensive online ecosystem that makes it the superior choice for gamers. Whether you're a casual player or a hardcore enthusiast, the Portal provides an unmatched gaming experience that is truly deserving of its five-star rating.

Got this for my 12 year-old for Christmas. He set it up all by himself using his PS4 account. As long as you have the Playstation subscription and WiFi, it works great!!! It even comes with a few Playstation classics, like Twisted Metal 3!!! Insane, I know!!! Reminded me of the old Sega Game Gear, but with a lot better graphics. LoL. Highly recommend for the casual gamer.

PlayStation Portal remote play is a game-changer for gamers who want the to play their favorite games from anywhere (you need WiFi connection) seamless connection between your console and device allows for high-quality gameplay without any lag (if you have high speed Internet). The user-friendly interface makes it easy to navigate and the customization options enhance the gaming experience. I highly recommend PlayStation Portal remote play for gamers looking to take their gaming experience to the next level.
I was originally skeptical about it, because i had already tried the remote play features with my phone and tablet, and thought it was decent enough but the delay and lag was annoying. With this thing, as long as you have good internet and wifi, it actually does way better than i imagined it would. 200 bucks for a big screen and actual playstation controller grips, i will promote this thing anyday. I only wish i could upload a video to show the lack of delay and how responsive it is.

The device is a nice alternative to remote play for anyone that travels a lot or that have others in the house that might need to have the tv, although there are some issues connecting to hotel wi-fi, but with the recent update some of the issues should get fixed. It works really well with my cell phone hot spot on 5g network with some stuttering it feels comfortable on your hands. Definitely a nice accessory for gaming on the go if wi-fi is available and reliable.
