I absolutely love this thing! It is definitely geared towards a specific gamer. If you dont have PlayStation 5 then you will have to pay for the PlayStation streaming service. It does require WiFi or a mobile hotspot. For me its a definite yes!

This Playstation Portal is way better than i thought. This was definitely the best gaming accessory that i have bought. I untilize this system everyday when the kids or wife are on the TV. Has been running butter smooth for me through wifi compared to a phone or tablet or even a computer. Haptic feedback is amazing and the battery life is pretty decent if you shut off the controller lights and turn off mic. The system charges fairly quick and love how when you plug in charger its in a area where the cord cant really become damaged. All around, the system was worth 199 and definitely see sony going in the right direction for portable. I difinetly suggest you guys trying this system out for yourself instead of listening to the people out there that conpares this to backbone+phone/tablet. The remote play quality on the system is way better than any other hardware. Portal has all of them beat!!!

I was totally on the fence at first but the hype around it sucked me in. Thanks everyone! I will say it’s probably not for everyone, but like they say if your PS5 is hooked up to a family tv that’s being used that’s where the Portal comes in. For me I really don’t have that issue. I work from home downstairs and my PS5 is upstairs. So if I can sneak in a few GTA V online missions while at work is a win win. I haven’t run into any battery issues at all. It seems to have great battery life to me. I think I had 2 connection issues but otherwise that’s it. I really have no complaints. I mean we all wish it could do more but it is what it is. The one downside is you can only play whatever game disc is inside of your PS5 at the time. If all of your games are digital you wont have that problem, and I don’t think you can play the streamable PS Plus games either. So if you don’t always have access to your tv, possibly want to play in bed, or just want something a little more intimate vs playing on whatever size flatscreen tv you have, than the PS Portal may be for you!

It is gorgeous, the sony's high quality is there and it is awesome to play on it. I had the oportunity to play in a house with 500mb internet speed and also in another with 2gb and i can tell, this is a critical utem to keep in mind, on the 2gb speed the game played smoothly, 0% lag/buffering , etc. But also it is sad you need to have your ps5 on to play, kind of expensive luxury. If you have many tvs probably you dont need this gadget. But if you have only 1 tv and nleed to share with other family members welll then you should give a try.

The PS portal is great and does everything as expected. I found no issues with single player story driven games. I had to slightly adjust to play games with more precision like the shot meter in nba 2k due to the slight lag. The controller itself feels great in my hands. The haptic feedback felt just as good as a regular dulsense controller. I found the connection to be better than when i used the ps remote app on my ipad or iphone. Overall would recommend this over the competitors.

Absolutely love this thing. I’m so happy with my purchase. I was a little upset when I first got it because it was virtually unplayable. It kept skipping and I have pretty fast internet, so I wasn’t sure what was going on. I went on Reddit and everyone provided suggestions and the 1 suggestion that worked is having my PS5 hardwired to the router. I tried that and it was night and day. The Portal worked perfectly and now i can use it anywhere in my house and it’s amazing! The screen is huge and the dual sense controllers are incredibly comfortable. Highly recommend!

works amazing on using private WiFi and nice to be able to play anywhere that is comfortable and not just at your PlayStation set up.
With the most recent update I am to connect to remote play on my mobile hotspot or public WiFi but I did not have the smoothest streaming experience. Lots of lag and experienced a lot of deaths in Warzone lol.
Cons: when I first bought the portal it was before this most recent update and I could not connect to remote play on mobile hotspot or public WiFi. Did some Reddit research bought a travel router off Amazon to accept terms and conditions from public WiFi pages and the portal doesn’t have this built in which prevents you from connecting to the internet properly.

This is a different approach to handheld gaming. I found having my ps5 etherenet in and using it creates a way sturdier connection with less lag, even with my system on wifi I dont really run into any problems. This is a great device if you want to play but not sit at your setup all the time. I did try it on my hotspot and it was pretty impressive that the system was able to keep up.

I can’t believe how much I love this thing. I happen to be 1500 miles away from my PS5, getting to be able to play it like it’s in the other room. We do struggle bit with the Internet speed but when my speed is fine. The picture is very clear is very comfortable to hold I love the adaptive triggers. Taking this on the go is awesome. My biggest wish would be to be able to download some of my non-Internet playing games on the go. Maybe have them sink once you get back to Internet.

I would give it 5 stars, however it does get a little laggy at times due to it streaming from PS5. I LOVE it and it works well for me, however if you are unable to hardwire your PS5 it may not be as fast as you want. I play red dead on it all night after my wife holds the living room TV hostage.

Its really good and convenient to use anywhere but the con is that you'll have to have really strong wifi signal to use it seamlessly. I honestly think Sony should have made it where you can use moble data with it like they did with the PS Vita cause not a lot of places have a really strong wifi signal. Overall is really good to use, it was like having my PS5 literally in my hands. Although i wouldn't recommend using it if you're playing online with other people cause of the wifi signal strength I mentioned earlier but it is good to play on if you're playing single-player games.

Gaming on the go can certainly make long journeys more enjoyable. A portable device offers a great source of entertainment for passengers. It helps pass the time and keeps boredom at bay during travel. Having access to games can also create a fun and relaxing atmosphere in the car. Such technology provides a welcome distraction from the monotony of the road.

The new PSP is a great device to mirror your PS5 from. Feels rellt well made and is very ergonomical. Feels just like holding a regular PS5 controller. My only beef with this device in my opinion seems intentional as you cam only play games on this device for the most part. You cannot stream any tv service or even Youtube on here. That was actually really disappointing to me however I as I mentioned i would t doubt they specifically made it that way as to focus all your attention on the mediocre selection of games on the PlayStation store. At least for PS5 i feel the fame selection for has not been good this term for PlayStation. But again if you have tons of good games to mirror and your lucky ebough right now to get a PSP from Best Buy for $199 its well worth it.

Good screen and hardware, the battery lasts for quite some time and an extremely high-quality 8" LCD screen. It's a full DualSense integration (haptics, mic, motion) which is very familiar sense you have to have a PS5 to use this device

If you have minimum 15mb upload speed and follow these guidelines, you'll love the Portal. Obviously your PS5 has to be WIRED, No wifi. Sadly, but hopefully something Sony will fix with an update. You have to set your PS5 resolution to 1080p, and either unplug the HDMI from it or play with the tv off. Not ideal i know, but it's worth it. If you have another tv other than the living room, which less ppl/only you use. I recommend hooking up your PS5 to that one, since the Portal connects through wifi and not the console. Please pass these tips on to other interested parties, before recommending the Portal...

Just got the PS5 Portal for my son!!!
He’s been wanting it for a while—and wow, it’s worth it! The remote play is super smooth, and now he can enjoy his favorite PS5 games anywhere around the house. Total game-changer (literally).
