Awesome traditional Zelda with a few problems
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'll get the negative out of the way, this games biggest detractor is that it lets you purchase your weapons from the start and labels all the dungeons with an indicator as to which weapon will be required. This takes away all the explorations and mystery. Some people look at this as a positive for it's time saving but I see it as an absolute negative. It's hand holding at it's worst and cheapens the experience. That said, all the mechanics are rock solid and the world is a joy to explore. It's fun and looks great but it needed to mix up the Zelda formula a little more (the story, world and dungeons will be a little more than familiar for this who played A Link to the Past).

A Leap From the Past
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A return to a beloved classic that also pushes the entire franchise forward in small, yet significant, ways. Anyone that played the Super NES Link to the Past will absolutely love the care taken in recreating that world with just enough changes and adjustments to keep exploration fresh despite the familiarity. The new music compositions are everything that you could possibly hope for as well. However, the potentially controversial system of renting, and purchasing, out your equipment, rather than discovering the items within the dungeons sequentially, turns out to be the game's greatest strength. Not only does this allow players to explore many of the dungeons in any order they desire, but it allowed the developers to craft very creative and interesting puzzles within each dungeon. From start to finish there are interesting trials for Link to combat, allowing a variety of tools to be useful throughout the entire game rather than favoring earlier tools or barely using the later ones. This means A Link Between Worlds has some of the best dungeon and puzzle design the entire series has to offer, as well as an over-world littered with hidden gems and treasures to find. A must-have for any 3DS owner and Zelda fan.

Lovingly Crafted for Veterans and Beginners Alike
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If I had to choose a Zelda game for someone that really wanted to jump onboard the franchise, I would have said "Ocarina of Time" or "A Link to the Past". Would being the operative word here, as "A Link Between Worlds" now stands as THE game I would recommend to someone curious about the franchise. While it doesn't stray too far from the basic framework that was laid down back in 1991's ALttP (collect three items, plot twist, collect some more items), Between Worlds is the first game since the NES original to provide a sense of freedom in how you approach each dungeon. As soon as you beat the first dungeon, every main item in the game is now available for use, allowing you to tackle any dungeon you want, in any order you want. Combine that with the freedom to just explore almost every nook and cranny in the overworld for collectibles after that first dungeon as well, and you have a Zelda game that is a breath of fresh air for fans that may have been getting worn out by what has been becoming a stagnant formula, and for new players that what to see the best of what the franchise has to offer, gameplay-wise.

A strong Zelda game
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a Zelda game with much less emphasis on exploration, which is quite unusual for a Zelda game. For those who played Link to the Past, you'll find you often already know where you're going and what you're doing. However, they used this familiarity to build up the puzzle side all the more, and there ends up being tons more to do, collect, find, and figure out than in the original game. So all and all, they still managed a very solid entry into the series, and one definitely worth checking out.

The best Zelda game I have played in years.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been a fan of the Zelda games since the first installment on the NES (Nintendo Entertainment Console). I have just about played every major installment in the series. However the last few installments had started to make me question whether or not I still liked the series. Unnecessary touch screen gimmicks, motion controls, and so on really made hate playing the games. Thankfully with A Link Between Worlds, none of those issues were present. With A Link Between Worlds, I honestly felt like I was playing a Zelda game the way I remember playing them as a kid. Like the original Zelda or Link to the Past, just classic gaming at it's finest. Well designed dungeons, very clever puzzles, and a big world to explore. Best of all, you will not find any real pointless and unnecessary gimmicks, just great gameplay. The story is perhaps the only thing you may find disappointing since it does feel similar to other installments in the series, but it is not a deal breaker. If you love the Zelda series, you must play this installment. If you have at all questioned your interest in the series in the last few years, this is the installment that will fully bring you back to the Zelda games. Truly worth you time and money.

Another great Zelda game
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is just a remake of the older SNES game but still a great classic. I really love the new 2d painting on the wall aspect of this game, it adds another dimension of gameplay and opens up your mind to a whole other level of secrets to look for. The map is reused but the fun isn't, def suggest this to any Zelda fan.

My First Top Down Zelda Game!

Easy to play on the go, great art style and 3D, and a fun story with great gameplay. I loved all the different dungeons. Finding all the heart pieces without a walkthrough is definitely tough!

WOW
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I played a link to the past on super nintendo (yes I'm old) and it was one of the best games ever. This sequel did not disappoint! It is the reason I got a 3ds. I lent it to a friend after beating it and he beat it in a day because he couldn't put it down!

Best 3DS game yet
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is so much fun! The game will keep you entertained from start to finish. One of the many great things about it is you don't need to play A Link to the Past to really enjoy it.

Gameplay is good, but the rentals are weird
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really enjoy the gameplay, the length of the dungeons are a pretty good length for a mobile game and the save system is good enough to be convenient but not so much so that its almost cheating. The only gripe is the departure from getting the equipment the traditional way of finding it in a dungeon then it's yours, instead you rent it from an odd bunny rabbit looking fellow. It's not bad, just weird, I'm just in love with OOT still i guess.

The best handheld Zelda game - ever
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is hands down, without a doubt, the best handheld Zelda game ever made. I can't say enough about this game. Let me highlight some of the great things about it: 1.) Link's new ability to merge into walls is pulled off flawlessly in this game, leading to new puzzles and gameplay strategies. 2.) Stunning graphics. There were times I had to stop and just admire the beauty. 3.) Plenty of content. Ten full dungeons, and an appropriate number of side quests. Not to mention two worlds to explore. 4.) Fresh mechanics to keep the Zelda franchise interesting. Link's ability to merge into walls is great. Also, the ability to get any weapon at any point in the game is great, and the renting/buying system adds a level of strategy. 5.) The thing that stood out most to me about this game was the dungeons. I believe this game has the most unique, interesting dungeons of any Zelda game - handheld or console. I want to gush about them, but I don't want to ruin the surprise. Let's just say I was very pleasantly surprised by them, particularly the last seven. If I have to be picky, there were two minor things I didn't like in this game. It was too easy to buy all of the weapons. They should have been priced much higher to make it more challenging. Also, some of the traditionally good weapons felt underpowered in this game. The bow was so weak it felt useless most of the time. And for being the blade of evil's bane, the Master Sword sure took a lot of hits to take down some of the enemies.

Best Zelda game in a long time
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Dungeons are fantastic and really make you think in 3D. World may be reused from A Link To The Past but there's so many changes made to it that makes it feel fresh. The best part is that there's no long intrusive tutorials that plague most other Zelda games but there is a hint system for players who aren't familiar with the usual Zelda puzzles.
