Former is far better. But traffic demands I have three complex things going on for it to work. 1st need Tom Tom apt on phone. Need Bluetooth on car. and the GPS device.. the former GPS device gave me traffic without blue tooth. I would never recommend tom tom again. I bought tom tom because of my previous experience. i would not recommend Tom Tom.... also. 1.5 giga to 4.something. too large. Get rid of the Spanish or whatever other languages

However, you can change the route planning if you go to Settings, click Route Planning, and select fastest route or whatever route you prefer. We do apologize that the traffic is done via smartphone, however, you do not need Bluetooth in your car for this to work. Cheers, Chelsea at TomTom

I couldn't see the screen in normal daylight because of the glare and couldn't hear the voice unless I closed the car windows and turned off the heat/air conditioning. Even then, the only way I could really hear it was to hold the thing in my hand near my head. The lifetime updates also would have been useless since I don't have a smartphone to connect to the GPS.

You can still receive LIVE traffic on this model through a smartphone connection. The device uses the data connection of your phone to receive LIVE updates, you can download the MyDrive App that works with the GO here: https://www.tomtom.com/en_us/mydrive/app/.
We decided to make traffic available through a smartphone connection so as to enable us to deliver high levels of coverage and accuracy. Our research also revealed that a majority of drivers already have smartphones with data plans.

Lifetime Services Stopped Working

The unit has also taken me to the wrong spot for a couple of destinations. Had to use google maps on my phone to get me the rest of the way there.
