    Long Term - DON'T BUY A TOMTOM Product

    This is my third TOMTOM; none of them have lasted more than two-three years, the "Lifetime Maps" are very difficult to access and take anywhere from 20 minutes to 3 hours to download. My last one (GO60) just attempted to download its software update and map update and erased my maps from the device so my GO60 is a 'paperweight' at this time. Based on my previous customer service that is what it will remain. Their service is difficult to obtain, RMA#s are critical, make sure you certify mail it with return receipt because they'll lie that they never received it. Very difficult company to work with. And you're probably wondering why I keep buying these short lived devices, one-works w/sunglasses (will have to check others again) and two - I'm just plain old and don't like attempting to learn another GPS's quirks. DON'T BUY A TOMTOM!!

    This GPS is not user friendly. I can not find points of interest like hospitals or parks or restaurants you have to type in the info also the touch screen is hard to type you have to push way too hard. I am taking back for a Garmin by the way this is a Tom Tom go 60

      Hi Noneyurbusiness, I am sorry to read that the GO 60 has not quite met your expectations. Regarding your comment about the touch screen. The GO 60 has a resistive screen which means it senses pressure and not just touch. You have to press the screen much harder than e.g. the screen of your smartphone or tablet, which have capacitive screen and sense touch. If you are still willing to give it a try, it might be helpful to read the user manual to get more familiar with the device.     Worked fine for the 3 years we had till it broke and refuses to turn on now the battery never lasted the 2 hours it said and the app and phone connection also had to many bugs and didnt work to well

    if you want good display in daylight, easy programming, Internet-free, shows POI's enroute, fast map updates, reliability, good customer phone service - this is not the GPS for you. I have always used Tom Tom GPS products and cannot believe they would produce such a lemon. The screen is unreadable in daylight at 100% brightness. To send directions to the GPS unit you need a smart phone with data roaming enabled. Then why do I need a GPS? I can use Google maps for free. Most of the times the Bluetooth connection fails and destination doesn't transfer to the GPS unit. Even though it says connection is good. The call center makes sympathetic sounding noises and says that here is a software problem. Most times I give up and drive off without it. My old Tom Tom GPS is much more reliable than this and has more software functions, for half the price. I never usually write reviews but this has really been the worst purchase a have ever made. TOmTom, what were you thinking of?

    Some streets don't come up.

    Streets that have existed for a long period of time don't show up or won't navigate to them. Also it doesn't always show my past visits. This is really frustrating, and to top it off I just bought this product a month ago. I would not recommend nor am I satisfied with this product.

      I am sorry to hear that some of the streets you were looking for were not present on the maps of the TomTom GO 60 S. I would like to comment on some of the issues you raised in order to improve your experience with the device.

      The device comes with lifetime maps which means that you can download newer version of the pre-installed map on your device when they are available.     nice gps misleading info before purchase

    I like the gps but im very disapointed that best buys website says it come with a traffic antenna when it done not. The traffic feature is through your smartphone and uses. Data.

    Weak display

    It made a positive first impression on a 90 minute pre-dawn trip. On the return trip in the mid-day Texas sun, not so much. Display seemed pale without sunglasses, unusable with sunglasses. The daytime brightness setting was already at its highest setting. Since this was a first trip with the TomTom, I had a several year old Garmin on the windshield next to it as "backup". The Garmin's display was far brighter. The TomTom is now in the box, on its way back to the store. Updating the maps was easy. I would probably have learned to like the user interface with time to get used to it. I was unable to find a "turn by turn listing" of the route. Instead, there was a route playback feature which was not meant for speed readers. The large suction cup mount seemed secure, and reasonably easy to take down and put back up. If only the display was brighter...

    i am totally shocked over the new upgrades. i cannot believe Tomtom make such things like this. Poor quality . i went to best buy i bought it tried it returned it, very slow, to get traffic update i have to use my smartphone and it has to be connected to the internet, millions of people in the world does not have smartphones nor Internet in their phones. the design very poor setting design. the Color. very poor color. everything thing are bad including the charger. 2 piece . why all that? i felt bad after so many years with tomtom i had to go with another GPS. not because i like it but at least better for right now as i believe tomtom got bad hit with this models . i will wait for the new models or i go with the oldest models

      We stand by our decision to make real-time TomTom Traffic the new standard for traffic quality on our devices. RDS-TMC might be sufficient sometimes but we believe the difference in coverage and accuracy is very substantial. Our research also showed that the majority of drivers already have a smartphone and a data connection they can share with the device to automatically get real-time TomTom Traffic - free of any subscription costs. We've also done a great deal of testing to make sure the load on the phone's battery and data connection is very low so as not to incur high extra costs for users.
      You can change the look of the device by customizing the theme colours on the "Appearance"menu within the settings and in the future we will be adding the functionality of custom map colours through a software update.TomTomInc.

    was ok at first, now most services dont work

    When I first got the unit, it worked fine until the refurb battery wasn't charging, so sent to tomtom for repair. got a unit back (new). started setting up the realtime as before but the android app no longer appears to detect 3G or 4G connections, so realtime is hosed. appears to be an ongoing issue with tomtom. the desk top application also now refuses to detect the device so cannot even perform updates. again tomtom customers blog this quite a bit, so it's a 50/50 toss up if you want the bells and whistles to work.

    not a good gps

    Have tomtom xxl 550 and wanted to update with a new gps with a larger screen and traffic . first does not connect with my smartphone htcevov3d android vers. 4.0.3 also not able to map corrections. they still have streets in my area as two wat and they have been one for over 4 years was able to correct on old GPS, the POI are very limited, not able to change or add poi's. returning item and just using my old gps for now.
