I bought the latest and newest TomTom, after I read reviews. I know we all have GPS on our phones but for longer trips, and if you use your phone a lot while driving (shame) then go ahead without any worried about getting sidetracked using this TomTom.

I wish it rerouted you when detecting traffic backup. But I guess I would have needed to upgrade to that model. All in all, I like it!

TOMTOM GPS

Used this on a recent trip, and it was not straightforward to use when seeking nearby "points of interest," such as rest areas and restaurants. Frustrating when you are in a new location and the driver is asking the navigator, "Which way?!"

Was hoping to use it in canada but it couldnt pick up anything at all. Good thing the car rental had a gps in it. Returned this without a problem

It will take you on a shorter route with 10 traffic lights while omitting a perimeter travel route sans lights. The "online update" took about 6 hours and then another 4 to transfer update to the actual GPS device. This unit was unable to navigate to an address on route 62 in Acton,MA. Best buy's insurance doesn't really cover this unit as only higher cost models are present in inventory. I recommend treating unit with kid gloves and leaving the charger cord plugged in with no stress on it. The cord connection is flimsy and repeated use will disable your unit.

Poor User Interface
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a great difficulty getting this Garmin to respond to my directions to find an address in Orlando FL when it tried to take me to somewhere near Chicago. It also used Indiana as HOME rather than Pensacola FL where I was. Once it could be redirected to the correct location, it seemed to behave well, except for missing the main junction home and taking me about ten miles out of my way. I had to set it at maximum volume to hear it and it would stick to the dashboard so my passenger had to hold it when we approaching a major decision point. In all, very disappointing.
