A: Map updates are free for life (at least for US/Mexico)
Q: what is the actual size of the screen on the tom tom 1415m gps?

Q: Does it come with a car charger!
A: yes
Q: Can you program a preferred route?
A: It memorizes all addresses put into it, so it is easy to program the route again. However, you always have to wait for the tom tom to receive the gps signal before receiving directions. It is not mapquest so it just won't pop up the same directions. The tom tom has to receive the gps signal before giving you directions.
A: It comes with a 12v cigarette lighter type plug which the USB cable then plugs into.
A: It does have voice, so you do not need to look at or read it in order to know when your next turn is coming up.
Q: Does it include traffic updates / alerts?
A: no, no info on traffic construction, roadblocks etc. once a road was closed for construction and it was useless in helping us find a detour. We wound up stopping and asking residents for directions.
