Been waiting months to get my hands on this controller! I've had it for about two weeks now and it feels great. It is larger, but not as large as I was expecting. Those pictures make it look very large! Having said that, it does feel perfect in my hands. The grips are just long enough for my pinky fingers to fit on them. The analog sticks are a bit further apart now and the d-pad and face buttons are nice and familiar, no complaints there. I've been using it on Uncharted 3, mainly. It feels really nice and the sticks have more resistance to them, they feel more precise. I can't say how much I am loving the L2/R2 triggers! They curve the right way now!! So long overdue! No more having to buy Realtriggers. The underside of the controller appeared to be rubberized in all the photos, but it in fact is not. It is the same material as the rest of the controller, but with a slightly rougher surface. Slightly disappointing, but it still feels great. The touchpad is often times compared to that of the Vita, but they have different textures with the DS4 being more tactile and the Vita's rear touchpad being completely glossy. Included in the box is...well, nothing but the controller. The charging port is not the same as the DualShock 3. You will need a micro USB cable to charge and sync, but if you have a smartphone that cable will do. I'm currently using a six foot cable and its just long enough, hopefully the one we get with the console is at least that long. There is one in the PS4 box, but not with the single DualShock 4. Overall, I'm really loving this controller. I can't wait to try out the touchpad with my PS4 and to be able to hear what the speaker is going to be like.

I actually bought this controller for use with a pc. I dont own a ps4 myself but with best buys price matching for online items it was actually cheaper than the controller i was replacing (afterglow wireless ps3 controller with the dpad and analog stick in the xbox locations instead of ps3). It has been relatively painless work with. It has a good feel in the hands, button placement is familiar and natural. I will say the start and share buttons are small, virtually level with the rest of the controller and kinda impractical to hit without looking at the controller. I often find i hit the middle touch pad thing instead. Speaking of steam seems to recognize and work with the touch pad to an extent though i havent put much time into seeing if thats practical. The only other thing i noticed is that windows interprets the bottom triggers in their natural state to still be an input. So pressing them is an input but also not pressing them is one. If you're like me and use a 3rd party program to map keyboard and mouse function to a controller, make sure to account for this or youll have frustrating unintentional results. The final thing that has a good and bad side is, you can play while charging, though if you normally play with it via bluetooth, be prepared for the fact that once you plug it in the pc will recognize the controller as a totally different device....with a different layout. All in all i bet it works great on ps4 and even gets the job done for pc

My son's PS4 controller died, so went online and saw it on sale at Walmart for under 35 bucks (@15 bucks off)...lowest price in town, so off we went. When we went to pay at the register, the cashier AND a manager REFUSED to honor the WALMART.COM advertised price!! Even after showing them the website WITH THEIR STORE # DISPLAYED ON IT!! WE EVEN SHOWED THEM THE PRODUCT FEATURES PAGE FOR THE PS4 CONTROLLER, which clearly stated the MSRP, the Discounted Sale Price, THEIR STORE'S AVAILABLE INVENTORY (14 IN STOCK), AND THE WEBSITES DISCLOSURE THAT SAID THE DISCOUNT WAS FOR BOTH ONLINE OR IN STORE!! They still refused, claiming that the "only way they could honor the sales price is if their price scanners pulled the sales price up. After 45 minutes of arguing, I was fed up...paid them the 59.99 list price, then my son and I left...irritated. GET THIS: On the way home, I pulled into Best Buy BECAUSE I REMEMBERED THE PRICE MATCH GUARANTEE!!!! Walked in, grabbed a PS4 CONTOLLER (same exact model as Walmart), went to the cashier and held up my phone...with the Walmart.com advertisement. The BEST BUY CLERK said "Ok...NO PROBLEM", rang us up for $34.63, AND SAID "THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING BEST BUY FOR YOUR PRICE MATCH SAVINGS." Are you kidding me???? Total time in store was under 4 mins AND they THANKED us for taking a discount!!!??? My son and I decided to drive back to Wal Mart and return the Controller for a refund.....and we made a pact to NEVER EVER purchase electronics from them again. BEST BUY IS OUR GO TO GUYS FROM NOW ON!!! THANKS AGAIN BEST BUY! YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!

DualShock 4 is the controller that's packaged with every PlayStation 4 system. Much like the DualShock 3 for PS3, this controller retains the popular button layout found on every Sony home console since the original PlayStation, along with dual analog sticks, vibration, and tilt controls. For the PS4, Sony reshaped the controller for improved ergonomics, and added a rectangular touch pad, a small audio speaker (which some game use to offer sound cues), a headset jack, and a light bar (which can be used for camera and VR games). The current revision of this controller, model CUH-ZCT2U, was introduced in 2016, and has a few subtle changes. There is now a thin translucent strip along the top edge of the touch pad, to allow the "glow" from the light bar to be viewed more easily by the player. Also, there is reduced latency when it is used as a "wired" controller with a USB cable. The controller is lightweight and fits nicely in the hand. The rear side of the "handles" have a slight texture to improve grip. The analog sticks are responsive and accurate, and I like the symmetrical layout as it offers a good, balanced feel. The digital D-pad is among the best that you'll find on today's selection of home video game consoles. One drawback is that the battery only lasts a few hours on a charge, so be sure to keep your USB cable (or a charging station) handy. While DualShock 4 is primarily promoted as a PS4 controller, it is also highly recommended for PC gamers. It can be used for Remote Play and the PlayStation Now streaming game service. It also works as a great alternative to the Steam Controller for games played through Steam. DualShock 4 packs plenty of useful features for the price. It stands as one of the finest gaming controllers for either PS4 or PC users.

I've had some consistent troubles with Sony's hardware in the past (I'm looking at you, PS1 and PS2), but their controllers have rarely done me wrong. The PS4 Dual Shock continues that trend with its excellent button layout ergonomic design. The biggest improvement here to me is the analog sticks–they're wider apart and feel much better with their concave grips. They also feel more sturdy and reliable than the PS2 and PS3 sticks. The buttons of the Dual Shock 4 are a similar affair. The new touch-sensitive track pad in the middle is ok, but it's rarely used for anything these days other than just an extra button (at least in 3rd party games). The L2 and R2 shoulder buttons are now triggers like on the Xbox One controller and feel much more natural for use in first-person shooters. The d-pad is excellent and still my favorite for fighting games out of all the standard console controllers. There's also a headphone jack on the bottom if you opt not to go with a USB headset. Battery life is pretty much as stated–a respectable 10-15 hours. Charging is easy, as each controller has an internal battery and can be charged via USB without interrupting usage (another plus over the Xbox One controller). NOTE: Dual Shock 4s that are sold separately DO NOT include another USB charging cord, so be ready to invest in another one if you plan on doing a lot of couch co-op games.

The Dual Shock 4 is Sony biggest redesign since the inception of original Dual Shock on the Playstation 1. Every version of the controller until now had the same basic shape and feel but this time Sony has combined the best features of the Dual Shock and rival XBox controllers for the the Playstation 4. What's Same: -D-Pad: Fans of fighting games will be happy to know that the directional pad is still the same offering the same precise response as before -Primary Button and Placement: Controller layout of D-Pad, Square, Triangle, Circle, X, L1, L2, L3, R1, R2, R3 is virtually the same so little time needed to become familiar with it if you've used previous versions of the controller. Responsiveness is unchanged What's New: Share Button: Immediate access to the gameplay video and screenshot functions of the PS4 Options Button: Replaces the Select Button but the differences are only in name and not in function Touch Pad: The function of the pad differs depending on the game but is very responsive. The entire pad can be clicked inwards and carries the same function as the Start Button did with previous controllers Light Bar: It's function also differs with each game and the effect is primarily aesthetic but uses so far have seen the light bar change color to indicate player number, get brighter when a character is using a flashlight, or flash to show player health Speaker and chat headphone jack What's Better -Analog Sticks: Taking a page from Microsoft, these are now convex and not concave like previous versions. Thumbs rest securely on top of the pad and no longer can slip off with quick movements. The tension of the sticks are slightly higher and feel sturdier now instead of flimsy -Redesigned shapes: Those who felt the Dual Shock was too small will like the new design. It is now slightly wider with more ergonomic curves, those with larger hands will no longer have to uncomfortably bend their wrists in.

These are good controllers, and I love the fact that you do not have to program them to the playstation when you first open the package and turn the thing on, but I've had to purchase 3 of them within the past 6 months. The L2 button (aiming button) on the first controller suddenly kept getting stuck to where I was constantly aiming and it wouldn't release on its own. The 2nd controller started having issues with the L1 button (grenade or relic cleanser if you play Destiny). I'm still using this controller but I've notice that sometimes the button isn't working the way it should after about a month of game play. I decided to buy the 3rd controller as a back up and also purchased the $8.00 replacement program in case I have any issues since I don't want to keep spending $60 every month or so. I never had any issues with my PS1 controllers and I haven't heard any complaints about the PS4 controllers so I'm not sure if it's just bad luck with me. The only other complaint I have it the battery life. When you first purchase the controller, it can go about 10-12 hours of gameplay and party chats without the charge. However, I notice after a week or two, you begin to have to charge the controller more and more so I ended up buying a longer cord so I could play and charge at the same time. I do not eat food and touch the controller and I do not slam my controller down. I take very good care of my items so there shouldn't be a reason for the issues I've had. I know there are more expensive controllers in the game world but for $60.00, I think SONY should investigate the button issue and see if they can find a way to extend battery life. Overall, it's a good controller and I'll continue to use these because I will not spend a fortune on a controller that someone who plays video games for a living may spend.
