One of the best the best competitive controllers!

Honestly, to get useless controller, you have to have kind of a medium to big hands. The Bill qualities is really good. The only thing I have to say is attention on the joysticks will get loosen. If you use them regularly other than that the tension on them is perfect and they have Hall Effect switches so you won’t even get stick drift.

Great PC Controller with Disappointing Trackpad

The Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded (what a mouthful!) is a great high-end controller for PC use. It’s got a lot of modularity and functionality built in and, as a gamepad, it’s very comfortable to hold and I use. I was a bit let down by the quality of the trackpad and the adjustable triggers, but otherwise this is my new favorite controller to use for couch gaming. All the hallmarks of a high-end controller are here. You get the controller and a case that also holds the charging cable, USB adapters, 2 additional D-pads, 2 alternate thumbsticks, a set of alternate gates, and a tool for exchanging and swapping the modules. These bits all sit below the controller in a 2-level foam insert. The cable velcros into the top of the case and this positions it in away where it doesn’t press against the thumbsticks when the case is closed - which is a problem I’ve had with the Xbox Elite Controller’s case. Out of the box, the controller comes in a symmetrical PlayStation-style layout, but this can be swapped to an asymmetrical Xbox-style layout with the included tool and that’s how I have mine setup. I swapped the default dish-type D-pad for the more traditional style, though there is a style included that sort of bridges the two. I chose to stick with the preinstalled concave short thumbsticks, but these can be pulled off and swapped for one of the others without any tools. The grips have a nice soft feel on both the top and the bottom. The face buttons have a similar feel to a traditional Xbox/PlayStation controller, which in general I prefer to the clicky-style buttons I’ve used on other controllers. Overall, the controller feels great to hold and is not too heavy. The build quality is excellent and all the materials feel good against my hands. On the bottom, there are 4 programmable buttons that can be tied to controller, keyboard, or mouse inputs. For me, I tend to press these more often on accident than I do on purpose, so I have them disabled, but this is not an issue for me that is unique to this controller. The triggers can be adjusted to 5 different levels of travel, though you have to do this by feel and for me it was tough to get both triggers to line up to the same stop and I wish that the levels were marked to make setting them a little bit easier. I also think the triggers flare out a bit more than they should and I’ve accidentally activated them quite a few times. The PC version of this controller moves the Xbox/Home button to the bottom and replaces the upper-middle section with a touchpad for mouse input. Below that, there is a function button that can be used in various combinations to adjust functions on the controller. I do most of my gaming on my desktop PC or my gaming laptop. I will often have my laptop connected to the TV in my living room as well and this is where I most often am using a controller. I was excited to use the Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded specifically for its built-in trackpad functionality, but I came away disappointed. The trackpad works in a pinch for selecting something from a menu or adjusting a setting, but besides that it’s very limited. It does have a right click function via tapping with 2 fingers and you can also scroll with 2 fingers, but the limited space makes using these gestures difficult and inconsistent. You can activate the Windows Onscreen Keyboard from the controller, but this is an app that is separate and worse than the touchscreen keyboard you normally see and it’s painful to interact with. I think a lot of this can be chalked up to Windows just not being very good with controllers right now. After about 10-15 minutes of struggling through using the trackpad on the controller, I just took my Bluetooth mouse that I normally use back out, which was a bummer. Fortunately, the controller part of the Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded is fantastic. It essentially just melted away in my hands and I really never thought about it all that much while I was using it. I tried it out on a few games and completed the entirety of the first Alan Wake game using it and never had any issues at all with comfort, connectivity, or stick drift. I did have a couple of scenarios where I’d accidentally activate the triggers, but the deadzone on these can be adjusted in the app to prevent this. Speaking of the app, the Victrix Control Hub from the Microsoft Store provides an easy way to remap buttons, calibrate the thumbsticks, set deadzones, and adjust the audio settings. There’s also firmware updates here and some basic diagnostic functions. To Turtle Beach’s credit, a lot of this can be accomplished directly on the controller, but it’s nice to be able to do it somewhere where you don’t have to remember all the function press combinations. The 3.5mm built-in audio works well enough, though I did run into an issue where the audio distorts noticeably if the audio setting on the controller is set at 100%. Reducing this down to 90% solves the problem and the Steelseries headset I used to test it was loud enough connected to the controller. The battery life is stated at ‘up to 20 hours’. After about 13 or 14 hours of use, the low battery warning on my controller did turn on, but overall I’d call that good enough. So overall, despite some issues, I’m very happy with this controller. It does well for me where it really counts. I do hope that the trackpad can be improved over time because I do think this adds a lot of value, but even without it I think it justifies itself well.

Trackpad Addition Makes This a Game Changer

TLDR: Not the big name in the gaming sector they once were, the Turtle Beach controller rivals the best. PROS: Anti-Drift Hall Effect Sticks Swappable Modules Convenient Track Pad Triggers Everywhere 3 Connection Options (Bluetooth, 2.4GHz Wireless Dongle, Wired) Dedicated 3.5mm headphone port CONS FlightPad Module Not Included Only 20hrs of Battery Life SET-UP The new Victrix is set-up and configured with Turtle Beach's new Victrix Hub. While it is easy enough to use, it is yet another app for Turtle Beach's products. The Roccat products use the Swarm software and the new Victrix uses a special Victrix hub. Each not compatible with the other. It would be nice to see Turtle Beach unify their product line and app development into a single, cohesive design. The Victrix Hub is not at all like the Swarm software (thankfully), but I find it frustrating that products from the same manufacturer (or at least a subsidiary) require 2 or more apps to make each work. USE I've been lucky enough to receive controllers to test from nearly every manufacturer. I will say that the Victrix is right up at the top with the best of them. The swappable modules are a novel approach to controller design. The ability to switch between gaming platforms and controller layouts breaks free from the mold of dedicated devices. The Victrix is compatible with the Steam Deck and PC. I've reviewed other controllers that made the same attempt as the Victrix and was bitterly disappointed. Cheap and gimmicky. The Victrix is not like the other offerings. It feels tight, crisp, and well-made. Far superior to others' attempts. Precision hall-effect sensors add to this feeling. I think my favorite feature of the new controller is the integrated trackpad. I had never thought about having a trackpad integrated into a handheld controller before. Now that I've used it, I don't know why others haven't brought it to mainstream. It is not finicky or overly sensitive, making mouse movements hard to control. On screen movements are subtle and composed. Proper mouse movement is extremely easy to achieve. Well done Turtle Beach. There are also 4 configurable triggers on the underside as well. Each one easily mappable with the Victrix Hub. You can tell Turtle Beach spent a great deal of time on the layout of the Victrix, as the buttons, switches, and triggers all seem to fall exactly where you would naturally hold the controller. Excellent work! CONS There are no dedicated menu and pop-up buttons like there are on dedicated Xbox controllers. Accessing those options are more difficult with the Victrix, but can be done with customization, they just are not supported by default. The hair trigger setting feels cheap and makes the triggers feel wonky. FINAL THOUGHTS Like I stated earlier, Turtle Beach used to be huge in the gaming market, but seems like they are playing runner up as the bigger names bombard you with new products, endorsements, and advertising. However, that shouldn't sway you away from the Victrix. It is a very good controller. As good as any of the competition's products, and better than most. The more I use the Victrix, the more I like it. That integrated trackpad is a novel addition and now that I've used it, it would be hard to go back to a controller without it. It is oh so convenient to use the trackpad than reach for a mouse to make a quick change in a game. Not to mention the included hard shell, custom fit, carrying case. The Victrix offers the buyer a lot for the money. RECOMMENDED

    Modularity, Precision, and Performance...

The Turtle Beach Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded Wireless Modular controller is a PC/Steam edition tournament grade controller with significant feature improvements including extremely responsive magnetic Hall effect thumb sticks and clutch triggers, a precision trackpad, and impressive modularity allowing numerous changes to customize your gamepad. This controller is aimed squarely at Windows PC and Steam Deck users. - Unboxing/Design/Build - The box is fairly basic but when you open it up, there's a high quality hard shell zip case. In the zip case you will see a neatly organized controller with all of its components. There's the controller, a 10 ft braided USB-C cable, a 2.4GHz wireless transmitter, a USB-C to USB-A and USB-A to USB-C adapters (great for Steam deck.) The toolbox consists of three D-pads (cross, diamond, circular), two extra thumbstick caps(sniper stick, short domed cap), two octagonal analog stick gates, and a small hex screwdriver. The case organization is really nice and compact with 2 levels for the add-ons. This makes the zip case really easy to carry around. The controller feels light, but durable. There's two modular areas: On the left is the D-pad and the left control stick. I went old school and swapped it out for the cross d-pad. On the right side is the right control stick and the X,Y,A, and B buttons. I replaced the right control stick with the sniper stick which helps your precision. There's grip in all of the right areas around the controller. There's a dark gray matte finish that helps cut down on the fingerprints. There's also a headphone port front and center. On the bottom of the controller there's 4 buttons that default - Specs & Features - This controller is compatible with Windows 10/11 and Steam Deck. It can be wired or wireless. The polling rate is 1000Hz in wired mode. The thumb sticks are the Hall Effect Modules (anti-drift) and the triggers are hall effect clutch triggers with 5-stop adjustment. There's a precision track pad that emulates your mouse. You can left-click, right-click, and scroll, and I found it very accurate and easy to use. There are reversible modules and a 20 hour rechargeable lithium-ion battery. - Software - The Victrix control hub is where you can perform diagnostics, recalibration, and remapping. The first time I loaded it up, it was a little finicky. I updated the firmware on both the controller and the dongle, restarted my computer, and everything worked great. The on-screen instructions are intuitive and help you test your sticks and all your buttons. My controller passed all of the diagnostic tests. It's recommended anytime you change your sticks or buttons you should run through a diagnostic test to make sure everything is operating correctly before your game. Make sure you're plugged in for the test. - Performance - In FPS games, this controller really shines. The Hall effect sticks feel amazing. They are precise and you won't have to worry about stick drift. There are no dead zones. The sniper long stick was a great idea. There's extra grip on the top of the stick and it just feels accurate. The 5-stop triggers set to their hair trigger mode are fast. The precision trackpad is an excellent addition. The mouse movement feels natural and I found myself using it even when I didn't need to. The buttons feel pretty basic. They don't feel cheap but I wish they felt more premium or mechanical. I turned on Brawlhalla and there was no lag, everything felt quick and accurate. This controller performs as good as it looks. It also feels really good in my hands, as if every button is where it needs to be. - Pros/Cons - Pros: - Anti-Drift Magnetic Hall Effect sticks and triggers are a huge upgrade for durability and precision - Fantastic 20 hour battery life - Customization is thoughtful - Trackpad is convenient for navigation and precise - Exceptional design (weight, grips, layout) - Reversible modules for Xbox/PlayStation layout Suggestions/Needs Improvement: - Buttons are good but could be better - Victrix software for calibration/diagnostics had a few connection problems in the beginning, but after firmware updates I haven't seen any issues - 6-button fight pad is an add-on - No rumble/feedback The design of the Turtle Beach Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded controller is the best I've seen. The customization and build quality is top-tier. I've finally found a controller I'm comfortable with on the PC. I highly recommend to any gamers looking for a serious, tournament grade controller.

Premium gamepad that is great for FPS games

There’s a firmware update waiting for both the wireless module and the gamepad, so I updated those before playing with it for the first time. The gamepad comes with a nice storage case and a USB cable with a generous length. My initial impression is that this is a premium gamepad that surpasses standard console controllers in quality. The gamepad has a unique feature that allows users to swap the thumb stick position and transform it from a Playstation style to Xbox style of gamepad. You can also further customize it with the included swappable components. There’s a built-in 3.5mm audio jack to connect with a wireless headset, though it’s kind of a bummer that the gamepad doesn’t come with a microphone module. I’ve been having fun playing Helldivers 2 with the gamepad. The ergonomics is good, the gamepad has a good weight to hold comfortably with both hands, and the grip is nice. Movement is smooth enough and drift free thanks to the hall effect joystick. At first, it does not seem to be as smooth as other Hall effect joysticks I am familiar with. After playing the game for several hours, I can say that I really got used to the gamepad. Firing weapons with the trigger feels responsive and natural. The gamepad works well for FPS games. Though primarily designed for PC games, the gamepad includes a built-in trackpad feature, giving it a feel and functionality similar to that of a PS5 controller. In terms of buttons, I got no complaints. It has plenty of configurable buttons for a variety of playing styles. The Victrix control hub app allows you for deep customization. With its hall effect joystick, this gamepad should last for years. Pros: Good ergonomics Hall effect joystick Awesome modularity Cons: Doesn’t come with a built-in microphone
