    Synopsis

    The Innkeepers
A pair of self-styled ghost chasers hunt for spirits in a run-down New England inn in this subtle thriller from director Ti West. The Yankee Pedlar Inn is a hotel in Torrington, CT, that's been welcoming guests for over a hundred years. However, not many have been stopping by lately, and the owners have chosen to shut it down. In the Yankee Pedlar's last weeks of operation, the staff have been reduced to just two people, Claire (Sara Paxton) and Luke (Pat Healy). Neither one is especially interested in hotel management, but they're both students of the supernatural: They've come to the Yankee Pedlar because it has a reputation for being haunted and they want to see for themselves if ghosts walk the halls before it's too late. The two spend their time searching the empty rooms for evidence of paranormal activity, which Luke will post on his website (if he ever finishes it), but they don't find much until an eccentric woman (Kelly McGillis) who shares their fascination with ghosts checks in. Together, they begin to discover the truth about the Yankee Pedlar's strange legacy. The Innkeepers received its world premiere at the 2011 South by Southwest Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Ti West has quickly become one of my favorite horror directors, despite my having seen only 2 of his films (this and House of the Devil - also an excellent film) due to his ability to produce genuine scares without resorting to the torture-gore elements worn thin by the likes of the Saw franchise. That's not to say I don't enjoy a bloody good horror movie with some gore, but Ti West brings a welcome change of scenery to the pure gross out moments of the majority of today's scary movies. The ability to build suspense, utilize cinematography and dialogue, and locate relatively unknown actors with immense talent for starring roles is truly remarkable. If you like seeing people die in gruesome and disturbing (some might say "inventive") ways that make you sick to your stomach, then this movie isn't for you. If you like genuinely chilling, creepy, and scary films that will leave you on the edge of your seat then give this movie a shot. A true throwback to an era of horror cinema about the search for the unknown and exploration of the paranormal, with modern elements, but with old-school style. Highly recommended.

Although the film did somewhat drag, i did like how ty west portrayed the phenomenon . It wasnt your typical haunted house movie in which the ghost constantly appears and scares you with special effects such as person climbing walls ; A lttle far fetched, would you agree? You didnt see much of the spirit in this film, only toward the end ...but the concept of trying to locate the spirit made it more intense.. which in reality, if you were to live in a haunted house , you would probably have a little encounter of the apparition The plot-> 2 Hotel clerks heard that the hotel is haunted and wanted to prove that the building ( about too shut its doors for good) is haunted by a women named madalyn who resided at the hotel in the early 1900's ... They used all sorts of cameras and recordings to prove that its really spooked. However, one hotel clerk wasnt a firm believer and denied the fact it was haunted.. however, sara paxton ( the last house on the left) thinks otherwise. Toward the middle of the film, she witnesses some movements such as doors closing and pianos playing by them-selves.. overall i would recommended this film..
