A: The “4E” in the name AF-S DX NIKKOR 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED VR also refers to the range the same way f/3.5-5.6 in that the "4" is how wide open the aperture can be when extended to 80mm. The "E" refers to the aperture system type. This one refers specifically to our newest aperture system which uses an Electromagnetic system to control the aperture blades. A: The Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED VR lens has a fluorine coat on the lens which effectively repels dust, water droplets, grease or dirt to ensure easy removal from this part of the lens, however, this lens is not weather-proof and should be protected from harsh elements and high humidity as much as possible.
Q: How good of a blur does this lense give?
A: At 80mm with lower F-stop you can achieve nice depth of field and background blur.
A: The Nikon D90 DSLR camera is not compatible with E-type lenses like the Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED VR. For fully compatible lenses that will work with the D90 model check out AF-S types like the AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR lens or the AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/4G ED VR lens.
