The Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED VR lens has a fluorine coat on the lens which effectively repels dust, water droplets, grease or dirt to ensure easy removal from this part of the lens, however, this lens is not weather-proof and should be protected from harsh elements and high humidity as much as possible.
