The 4-door counter-depth refrigerator features better freezer access, extra-cold storage & humidity controlled drawers to keep food fresh.
A: OK I have diagnosed the problem - the ice tray flexes to empty the ice. The issue is the tray has a rectangular slot in the back of the tray which connects to the dump motor. The plastic tray breaks at that slotted point thus not able to flex and empty the tray. Its a bad/poor design in my opinion with no reinforcement around the slot in the tray to take the stress of the motor flexing the tray. My temp solution was to wrap electrical tape around the back of the tray to hold it together and still dump ice but its intermittent so I still get overflows, until you can get a replacement tray PN BSH-12017983 $24. I will report back once I have the tray, but I also ordered the complete ice maker for $133 too just in case. Also another tip - clean the tray and polish it with some carnuba wax (car polish) which is non toxic helps ice release and improve the dumping action, sort of like a laxative for your ice maker!
A: I found a workaround: In the Bosch 800 series you can lift the front white icemaker panel and there is an on/off button. (ON is lit button - OFF is dark) When the tray is full just shut off the ice maker and use up the ice in the tray. When about half full (plus or minus) turn on the ice maker again. This works around the problem that once the tray is full one cube getting caught on the top back of the tray can fall backwards when you pull out the freezer door. I am going to try to cut a rubber flap to put between the back of the removable ice tray and the back of the drawer. to see if that stops the occasional cube from falling backwards.
A: Great question, we have owned or Bosch same amount of time and have same problem. I’ve looked both online Manuel’s and you tube... the closest thing I could figure is that temperature might be part of problem...I tried turning fridge up 38degrees and freezer 5 degrees . It’s kinda works , I keep pressing ice maker on???? If u find better answer , please let me know.
A: When you press the ice maker switch off/then on, it should be lit and stay lit. Our 3 yr old Bosch has been finnicky as well - so to "engage" it I turn off/on to kick start the ice maker - for some reason the main board signal IMO is telling it its full of ice when its not. We had a problem early on - low ice production two/three trays a day at most. So I did a hard power reset (turned the breaker on/off) and let the fridge reset. That seemed to cure the issue. The other issue as you may read below posts is the flex tray design is a poor one - our tray broke where the motor engaged the flex tray slot ( a very poor design with limited reinforcement on the flex tray) so I have a modification in mind when I get my new ice trays - I have two on order now and a complete ice maker too ($24 for the tray, $130 for the complete ice maker.). The kicker is Bosch DIRECT service wanted $129 for the service call, then $40 per 15 minutes on site, PLUS parts $250 for the ice maker. Total $500-700 and our third party warranty service denied the claim - they would pay for the service call to diagnose - then the Bosch tech was to submit an estimate, ONLY then would they approve the claim. So this is when I decided to dig deeper and figure out the issue. If you are still under warranty use it -and make sure you record each issue and get a warranty extension on the part replaced in the event it happens again.
A: I do not have mine hooked up to a water line so can not help you with the ice question. Concerning the temperature not staying lit up mine does not either. It only lights up when you press it to let you know what temperature you want to set it at. It is not meant to tell you the current temperature. I have purchased 2 thermometers (1 for the refrigerator and 1 for the freezers) so that I can keep track of the actual temperature. Had to set the refrigerator at 38 instead of the original 39 to keep it in the proper safe zone.
Q: I don't need so much ice. Can I use a smaller ice tray. Also the ice tray takes up so much room.
A: Please answer this question... my wife and use ice every day, but unless we had a huge party, this ice cube storage tray is way to big using up valuable freezer space!
Q: In what country is this unit manufactured?

Q: Is there an on/off switch for the ice maker?
