It has a good camera, but there are some limits
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you don't have some basic experience flying RC, I would recommend some time on DJI's simulator first. Take it out on an open field where there are no flight restrictions, and get familiar with it before actually putting it to work. Never depend on the sensors. Learn to fly first. This drone has limited range, and flying it beyond a tree line will cause the video signal to weaken. If that's the case, tap on the map so you know where your craft is located, get it up to at least 150 feet in altitude so you don't hit anything (look at your telemetry!), orient the arrow on the map so it's pointed where "home" is, then get it closer. Alternate between the map and aircraft view until the video signal is strong enough to maintain control. As long as the drone's video down link is not obstructed by buildings and/or foliage (you're not behind a tree line, for example), then the WiFi range is good. The camera is sharp, and video is good for the average person. This is a good drone for families and perhaps, some travel if there are no restrictions in DJI's database for the intended location. On the other hand, I would say this aircraft is better for family gatherings and videos with participants. It is also good for selfies and, doing a little exploring where permissible. I don't feel that there is a need for a 1" sensor like on the Mavic 2 Pro for a hobbyist, which is really for professionals who hold a Part 107 license and are in it for the money. The Mavic Air is better a serious hobbyist who has a good bit of experience with RC model planes. With no flying experience, I would get something cheap to crash a few times and learn from at first. This is not a budget drone by any means, and it may even be a bit too expensive for an average individual who wants something affordable and basic, yet still usable. JJRC, Holy Stone, Parrot, and Yuneec among other companies, offer more affordable alternatives, while DJI has discontinued their Spark. DJI is the only company I know who puts flight restrictions into their products, so you want to be aware of this if you are flying under Part 107 and have clearance. A DJI drone might not start in a restricted area where the operator has permission, while an Autel EVO will have no trouble getting in the air to do the work. The Mavic Air with the Fly More kit comes with a nice case, which will carry everything you will need for a few flights, including the drone its self. I like the multi-charger. The radio is a bit cumbersome to use, requiring a cell phone or Apple iPad Mini sandwiched between the two handles. You really want a separate WiFi phone that's out of service, specifically set aside to operate the Mavic Air. I have an older Samsung Galaxy S8 for that purpose. I gave this one a 5 star rating because of its positive reputation among other owners. And so far, my overall experience has been good. But then again, I have a bit of experience from my RC flying days at club fields, and I can understand the Mavic Air's limitations. Don't test it, and you shouldn't have to worry about crashing or losing it.

Easy to setup, great images
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a freelance visual journalist and after several requests for aerial footage and photos, I dipped my toe in the water with this Mavic Air. first of all, it was easy to set up and get going. After registering with the FAA and getting my commercial drone license, I've been collecting aerial shots for about a month. I know there are drones with better cameras and more advanced stability, but so far so good. Most importantly, clients have been happy with what I've delivered. I may upgrade to one of the other DJI models with a better camera at some point, but for now - and for the price - it's great to explore drone photography with this unit. An added plus is the size - drone, controller and extra batteries all fit alongside other gear in my large camera backpack when I need to fly somewhere on assignment.

So Easy to fly
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This drone was an easy choice! It got the best reviews, was small and compact & easy to fly. Once I watched all the videos I could to learn what to do in a lot of different scenarios I was able to fly it. It took me through all the simulations and I felt like I knew what I was doing before even doing it. The pictures it takes are unbelievable too!! I would definitely recommend DJI and their drones!!!

Great drone!!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the $699 price you just can’t beat everything this drone has to offer. With 3 batteries and a 4K camera this drone really is worth the money. I use my drone for photography of homes being built as well as short cinematic videos and all I can say is I’m glad I made this purchase. With the 8gb of storage on the drone it really is a great drone.

Fantastic Drone
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wouldn’t change a thing. Very portable. Travels with me everywhere, and I work for an airline. App is great. If you need more than 2-2.5 miles range, maybe go with the Mavic Pro. For the average recreational user, you couldn’t ask for a better execution.

Awesome Drone! Worth the investment
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a first time drone flyer. This drone makes it easy for beginners, it has beginners mode. Once you learn the layout of the settings in the flying app, it is really easy to fly. You would have to try hard to crash this drone. Automatic take off and landing are great for beginners and experienced flyers alike. It streams a 720p live stream to your phone. For 4K video and high resolution photos you will need a micro SD card. Video and photos are awesome. There are accessories available to allow use for iPad and camera filters to help with getting great cinematic footage. The fly more combo is worth the extra money. A total of 3 barriers, extra props, and a 4 bay battery charger are a must. I am so happy I purchased DJI on my first time out. Trust me you won’t find a better quality entry level drone out there. Beat Buy made it easy during COVID19 with curbside pickup. Great customer service!!

good beginner drone
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have no flying experience, and this drone made it easy for the actual controls of it. I got my part 107 license and I use this drone for my real estate photography business. I have to explore some of the different flying modes it is equipped with, but so far it does exactly what I need it to and I feel comfortable using it! There were a few issues with set up (the charging cord looks like it won't fit since it is a different shape, but it does) and getting the information off of the drone without the micro SD card is annoying with the cord and the cord adapter. Even though it has on-board memory, just make it easy and get a card.

Extreme fun!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My 2nd quadcopter. My family purchased a cheap (~$140) one for me that didn't last 2 days. It was unstable, impossible to control and after my son crashed into a fence, it was toast, and no parts available to repair. This Mavic on the other hand is rock stable, easy to control, stays put while you think about what you're going to do next. The videos it produces are stunningly sharp and steady. There is a bit of a learning curve with all the features it offers, but you can start out in beginner mode for a quick start and then check out youtube tutorials to learn more later. Great fun and highly recommended.

Q: QuestionAre protection plans available for any drone.
Asked by Migz203.
- A:Answer the best bang for your buck plan is DJI Care - they'll cover pretty much anything, including water damage, and send you a brand new drone.
Answered by DariusD
Q: QuestionCan you get DJI's care plan for Mavic Air bought in Bestbuy from DJI store? What's the process?
Asked by Hal.
- A:Answer Yes you can. Go to dji com and hit the drop down menu then look for “support” and then you should see a box saying “dji care” on the screen. It will load to a new screen and give you a few options “buy now” “dji care activation code” and remaining coverage amount” click on the “buy now”. You should then see a list of all the drones they offer and looks for the one you have. Then click buy it now and it will ask for your S/N. You have to do this within 48 hours after activating your drone via the app (I believe it’s the app) I hope this helps you!

Q: QuestionI want to buy Mavic Air but I have a concern about warranty, How does it applies? Should I contact BestBuy store first? or Should I contact DJI directly?
Asked by JesusVelazquez.
- A:Answer Once you purchase the drone, you must deal with DJI directly. Best Buy doesn't handle warranty service or offer extended warranty. I bought the DJI extended warranty right after I set it up.

Q: QuestionWhen will it be available to buy the combo mavic air at best buy?
Asked by Brasil.
- A:Answer It's hard to say when it'll actually be available in retailers. It seems that DJI has already started shipping them out directly from China (at least that's where my preorder came from) to consumers who preordered the units. They officially began shipping 28 Jan 2018 but some people have received them even earlier than that. DJI has not mentioned when retail stores shall receive their shipments and how much of those shipments are designated for preorders only or instore display/pickup. I know that's no real answer but the best information I have. Hope it helps.
