Does a great job
|Posted .Pros mentioned:Cleaning, Ease of use, SuctionWe first got an Upright Dyson Ball multi floor 2. It is a great vacuum with an excellent suction but unfortunately due to the ball is hard to reach under the furniture what makes your cleaning a little complicated. A couple days after we got it we found about this Big ball bagless canister and even though the suction is not as good as the upright vacuum, it does a great job. It is not heavy and you can reach every space in your home. It is really easy to use and clean. We had our doubts at first so we went to test 5 different canister vacuum that are rated as the top 5 and we compared them side by side with ours and the Big Ball was the only one that could clean and suck all the different samples of dirt we brought with us like dust, cat litter, hair, coffe grounds and more stuff without spreading them around unlike the other vacuums. I would definitely recommend it.

Terribly smelly!

Quality3 out of 5Value1 out of 5Ease of Use3 out of 5Pros mentioned:Powerful, SuctionI bought this vacuum cleaner a couple of years ago and I am extremely unhappy with it. It cost me over $400. If it had been cheaper I would have replaced it by now and given it to someone I hate. As far as suction power, no problem, it does a good job, but if you want your house to smell disgusting every time you use it, then I recommend it. The problem is, there is no way you can clean the fine dust deposits that collect in the filter (see pic). You are not allowed to immerse that part in water, and the only way to get the smelly fine powder out is to suck it out with a secondary vacuum cleaner, if you have one. I called Dyson customer service about it and they said the only way to get it cleaned is to have it professionally serviced. It is evidently a design fault that if I had known about, I would not hat bought this vacuum. I do not know if this particular model is the same, or if the design has been changed, I just wish to warn anybody so that before they buy, they check this "feature" out.

Posted .Hello Vee, this is Kelly with Dyson. I'm sorry that you're so unhappy with your Dyson Big Ball Canister vacuum. Instances may sometimes occur when the filter on the vacuum may catch a smell of what is being vacuumed. Sometimes smells can occur if the filter is left wet or damp and put back into the vacuum too soon. Also while the cyclone cannot be washed with water, we do recommend using a vacuum tool to clean the outside of the mesh as well as a can of compressed air to blow away dirt/dust on the inside as well. We have received your email correspondence, but please feel free to reach back out to us again at askdysonUS@dyson.com and we will be in touch.
Best wishes,
Kelly

Need Muscle
|Posted .No, I would not recommend this to a friendI've been a Dyson owners for years. I can only explain my life as incredibly busy, hectic, balls-a-juggling (always). When I stop my spins to vacuum (I have 4 pets) I need it to be as efficient and effective as possible. I found the canister vacuum to be HARD to push the head over carpet (u need muscle), the relentless leaning over (for carpet + woods) is a bit much, and the ball follows you as u move w/ briskness, picking up small furniture (etc's) along the way... and so it slams against bigger furniture pieces (or just gets hung up on them). If you twirl around a table... you have to twirl the canister back around in the reverse direction (this is easier to do with an upright that is motorized like power steering). This model DOES have GREATtttttt SUCTION. I have 30% carpet (lushy wools), 70% hardwoods. If you have only hard flooring and big open spaces.... this is a great product to consider. If you live in a smaller urban efficient space with some lushy area rugs - I'd steer clear. I returned my canister and got Dyson's multipurpose upright (which replaced my older DC25 upright). It maneuvers fast, swift, NO PUSHING that requires my arm muscles, and I am a HUGEeeeee FAN of Dyson's "articulating head floor attachment." I could not live my life without it...

Posted .Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. I'm sorry to learn that you had a poor experience with your Dyson Big Ball canister vacuum. Dyson canister vacuums are generally among our most powerful offering in the Dyson line of vacuum cleaners. Also, the Dyson Big Ball Canister rides on a ball and features a low center of gravity to help it stay upright – and get back up if it falls over. We would certainly not expect the machine to tip over or get hung up on your home furnishings. While I understand you've since returned your purchase for an upright, we'd value the opportunity to learn more regarding your experience, as we're dedicated to customer satisfaction. Please consider emailing us directly at askdysonUS@dyson.com. We look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes,
Kelly

I was able to go online at Best Buy and research a replacement, purchase it and get curbside pickup in 60 minutes. Vacuum was competitively priced to online retailers. Employees were efficient, fast and respectful. Best Buy is my new go to place for electronics!

Quality5 out of 5Value3 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Great vacuum! I prefer this over the upright model bc it’s easier to move around the house and I don’t knock it over. The hose is great for stairs and attachments are perfect for detail work. I purchased for $399 but now on sale for $299. I missed the two week window by a few days and didn’t get sale price so make sure you keep an eye on pricing.

Excellent replacement for previous Dyson

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5After we read ratings on CR about canister vacs, we were surprised to see this one rated not quite as high as some others. We went with our gut and are completely satisfied with this one. CR was wrong. It even comes with a convert piece to use our old tools with it. And it sucks better than the old Dyson. A great vacuum!

Not as good as the older Dyson canister vacuums
|Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Features
Quality2 out of 5Value2 out of 5Ease of Use2 out of 5I'm a Dyson fan and own 2 other Dyson Vacuums. I purchased this canister because I think Dyson is no longer making canisters and just do not like the cordless for all around cleaning. This vacuum is lighter and cheaper made. The on/off button is very small and you have to bend down and push the lever with a finger. It feels so cheap you think it will break off.. I love my older Dyson canister but time will tell with the newer cheaper made model and how it holds up.

Gets the Job Done
|Posted .Owned for 4 months when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value3 out of 5Ease of Use4 out of 5Good but not great. We love our Dyson cordless vacuum, and when the regular vacuum broke we replaced it with this Dyson canister. It works well and gets the job done, but I don't love it as much as the cordless ones. Dealing with the attachments is a pain, the main tube gets clogged easily, and the suction on the carpet beater does not seem as strong as our old vacuum.

Q: QuestionI see that Krystal from Dyson states that the only difference in model/price is the attachments. May I have more information, please? What attachments does this model have and which attachments does the big ball animal model have? Thanks!
Asked by Lchillinkaty.
- A:Answer Hi there, this is Krystal with Dyson. The Dyson Big Ball Bagless Canister comes with a combination tool and stair tool. Both of these can be stored directly on the machine. The Animal series comes with the same tools along with a tangle-free turbine tool which is great for pet hair. Best Wishes, Krystal Dyson Customer Service
