Powerful and reliable
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought to control and monitor the 750 watt space heater in my office. It was easy to setup and works with Homekit. My only complaint is the need to have the eve app installed to monitor the usage. Kind of defeats the purpose of trying to have one app “Homekit “ do it all. Overall great smartplug.

Why did I buy this
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have philips, wemo, and C by GE, and I bought this on sale because it says it shows usage like a meter. This is true, but all it's features are only available for Apple and you have to use their app for power usage, not homekit. The big issue is the app interface is not easy to use and confusing

Not too bad of a product.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was thinking I was going to get more from this, in an appliance monitor. I am assuming after time and getting more into their product line, hoping to get more out of it as I expand on it's functions.

Work as advertised...mostly
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I currently have four of these “smart plugs” and have been using them for 2-3 months. They were fairly quick and simple to set up using the Eve app on an iPhone. I had issues setting one of them up but I removed it from the app and restarted the process which then worked just fine. After using the Eve app to initially set up and update the firmware, I set the devices up in the Apple Homelink app (I’m using an old iPad as a dedicated Apple Homelink hub) I can’t say for sure what causes this issue but occasionally the Homelink app can’t find the Eve devices even when the devices are plugged in just a few feet away from the hub. I rarely use the metering functionality partly because I use the plugs to control low energy LED lamps however, that feature seems to work just fine in the Eve app. I’d still consider buying more of these for the ~$20 I paid for them even with the intermittent communication issues. The convenience of on/off programming and remote control from my phone are worth it.

1st gen, chunky
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are the best plugs I have in my house. They respond immediately. It is like flipping a switch. I have some hue smart plugs that are also nice but when the wifi is slow, they don't respond well. I don't know about their range (all the ones I have are close to homepods) but they are incredible for me. I got them for $25 on discount. If youre buing them right now, I'd go with the newer one, as this is the older model. Its exactly the same but smaller.

Q: QuestionIs the homekit an optional upgrade to expand this plug's capabilities, or is it a necessity for this plug to function at all? Also, is there a subscription fee for the app? Thank you
Asked by kootch.
- A:Answer HomeKit and Siri compatibility are the primary, included feature and purpose of this device; no subscription is required. Once you download the Eve app and pair the device to your network, all Siri-capable Apple products can control the device using the Home app and voice/trigger/shortcut/conditions control.

Q: QuestionDoes it function as a surge protector?
Asked by PatrickMcVay.
- A:Answer No, not really; but if you get a surge, it will almost certainly act as a fuse.

Q: QuestionWill this send alert to your phone if you have power outage?
Asked by Bonz.
- A:Answer This won't send notification but you can see the power usage to see if there is consumption or not.

Q: QuestionCan this be used with a refrigerator?
Asked by ScottB.
- A:Answer It’s only rated for 15 amps, so unless it’s a very small refrigerator (think dorm room mini), probably not. Most standard refrigerators are 17-22 Amps; however, you can check the requirements for your device/appliance, and as long as it’s less than 15 amps (~1700v) this device will work.
