A: Hello Coopsmom, The pretreat feature on this SmartWash is supposed to be a stream and not a spray. For high traffic areas we would recommend our Hoover Oxy Carpet Cleaner and our Hoover Oxy Spot Chaser. Thanks! Matt - Hoover Team

Q: can this be used on furniture also?
A: I used it for a sofa and for fabric chairs, it worked great. You spray the shampoo and the tool sucks it back out. Great pleasure to watch how dirty the water comes out.
Q: I can use it on the wood floor too or just carpet.
A: This is for carpets only.
Q: Do you have to remove all the furniture to clean the carpet? Some pieces are too heavy to move.
A: I have cleaned a bit in my apartment without moving any of the big pieces yet. The only true recommendation that is made is that you vacuum any area you want to clean first before using the carpet cleaner.

Q: Can this be used simply as a vacuum cleaner as well, in addition to a shampooer/cleaner?
A: No , this is only to clean carpet. It has a wet only recovery system.
