I purchased the Hp stream 14-inch laptop, which contains 4GB, 32 eMMc flash memory, and 1 year subscription of office 365 personal; through best buy online site. On March 12th, 2018 I received the computer, during this week the computer was working fine .The following week I experienced minor issues until they became a frequent occurrence during the third week. The laptop began to freeze after startup preventing the use of internet explorer. When I finally did get internet explorer to work, it would stop minutes later. Exiting one app and switching to the next was difficult. On three occasion the computer started to glitch until I was force to shut the computer down. I decided to return the computer to best buy on April 2nd, 2018 because of all of this. I was told by one the employee I could not because it was past the return date. I explained to her there was no return date listed on my receipt but only where and how to return the item. Her response remained the same and suggested that I can have geek squad repair it since I am under warranty. I agreed to her suggestion. I was told a diagnostic test had to be performed before they can ship my laptop for repair. My response was okay that is fine. I handed him my laptop and explained my issue with it. He checked the storage on my computer and informed me that my storage was full. He further explained most of the storage was used up by programs either installed to run the computer or by office 365. He gave me a list of programs that I should delete that would allow my computer to run smoothly. Out of fear that I would delete the wrong program ,I contacted the manufacture (HP). They made it clear that I can not return or exchange the laptop. Again I was told my storage was full, I could purchase a hard drive from their store or have them repair it through geek squad. Looking to ship my laptop for repair by the manufacturer ,I made another trip to best buy. I was told I could not since it was a storage issue. He suggested again that I delete unnecessary programs. I did as I was told and bought a micro sd. The computer was able to function better until Saturday 26th of May, 2018. I am now experiencing new technical issues where I am unable to use my computer at all because the login screen remains black preventing from login. I would advised those thinking about buying this computer do not I have had problems every since I bought the laptop. Dealing with both HP and geek squad has been a complete waste of time and money . Never again would I buy another HP computer .

    Perfect Light Use Laptop

I'm a technologist and writer and have had many laptops over the years; weight is an important consideration in the items I purchase, I don't like long OS lags when doing things, and I need a solid keyboard and battery life that is functional. This machine hits on all those points. The keyboard in last year's model was *slightly* better and the trackpad is serviceable. I generally buy external mice for $15-20 when I buy a laptop and then turn off the trackpad in the OS. The bloatware is minimized and is easy to remove. For general usage and readability the screen is fine, but it is a bit washed out. If you want to do large file manipulation or have lots of media this is not the machine for you; this is for writers or basic consumption through online streaming, writing emails, etc. It's durable and for the price point I can take it with me to do things without worrying too much about coffee shop spills, or drops, etc. A system that has none of the downsides this has would probably cost $350 or so. Lenovo makes several with 64G SSDs and I had purchased one of those only to have to return it due to the awkward placement of the Shift Key on the right-hand side which made typing impossible for me. In short, I was exceptionally pleased with the first generation HP Stream and while I don't love this one as much from a keyboard and screen standpoint, the 4G of Ram is essential to make even a light-use laptop functional and I have absolutely no regrets.

    Junk even for $200

This computer is absolute junk. I bought 2 of them for my kids. They are very light users and only access the internet for school and movies etc. One the battery dies after 6 months and the other the mother board went bad within 9 months. Bestbuy Replaced the one with the mother board issues. The one with the battery issue I just purchased a new one online for $50 as HP was too difficult to deal with. BEFORE YOU BUY any HP product do this; go online and try to find a live person to help on their website. They do everything in their power to never help the customer. Now google support number and call. If you tell them you own a laptop the auto system will direct you back to the website. If you hold a bit longer you will be told an agent will assist you. Now the agent is going to have a heavy accent and ask for a lot of serial numbers etc. These will not be easy unless you have a magnifying glass as they are printed in dark ink on a dark computer in size 3 font. Look for yourself at the laptop before you buy. Now if you give them the number they go off the manufacture date for the warranty unless you want to wait and email them the receipt and wait for a call that never comes. I have owned about 20 HP products and in the end they all fail very very early. I may be slow but I have learned my lesson with HP. Cheap products and no support.

I have an older version of this, a Stream 13 which runs Win 8. Works like a charm. My wife wanted a new laptop and she was so happy with her old HP Stream that she wanted the same thing. Period. Hey, the current model has a bigger screen and costs the same, wow, what a deal. Well not so fast. Well three weeks after buying this she wants me to bury it in the backyard. CPU is pegged at 100% all the time with no applications running. Its all Windows 10 update service. so I killed that off and it was okay til you tried to run a browser, than it pegged to 100% again. Withing a few minutes of booting with the CPU at full capacity the thing starts getting physically hot. Browser performance is awful, hangs up, crashes. This piece of junk can't handle basic web browsing! My instinct is to blame it all on a combination of Windows 10 plus all the included bloatware plus and under powered processor to run all that. Or maybe the one I bought was just a lemon. But a super hot laptop that has a CPU pegged at 100% all the time is useless. It's going back tomorrow.

I purchased this computer mainly for internet use and listening to music/ watching movies. I Removed bloatware I Uninstalled Apple Bonjour, I Uninstalled McAfee Antivirus, I Uninstalled HP Support & Registration. I Disabled automatic updates I Also installed AVG and Malwarebytes. I was reading that a 64GB microSD card can expand the storage space, have not purchased one yet. Computer is very slow at times, even with uninstalling some programs.... Luckily it is a cheap affordable option and I also price matched with another store. Still trying to figure out how to make it run a bit smoother. One thing I LOVE is the color and keyboard!!!!!!

I purchased this product for my son's 15th birthday. I purchased the laptop in March because it was on sale. He opened it April 23, 2017. He pulled it out the box it was shipped in, took plastic off of it, opened the laptop, and half the screen had lines running through it. I called bestbuy.com the next day, and explained to them what happened. I was told that because it had been purchased 32 days before, I could not return it. I was told to contact HP directly. HP then proceeded to tell me if it couldn't be fixed by trouble shooting with an associate, I could send it back. I would not receive a new laptop, I would receive a refurbished one. I was furious. My son had a laptop, which still had the plastic protective cover on it, that had only been powered on. Luckily, I contacted my local store whom I've done thousands of dollars of business, and they took the laptop back and ordered my son a new one. Thank you BestBuy Opelika, Al for doing the right thing.

A nice purple colored laptop but... with only 32GB of flash memory. Why so low?.. nobody can be happy with 32GB!? After updating two times, that memory was full!!?? And you can not downloading your updates on another memory card. Did needed to return my first laptop because it showed "plugged in, not uploading".. so get my second laptop by ordering online, cause you couldn't buy it in store. This one was working perfect.. but the 32GB memory was indeed quickly full. The trick: reset and start a new with the new updates, did not work. I am really sorry cause i really liked his keyboard and this pretty 14" laptop.

Our Granddaughters wanted a simple computer to play on-line games, like Roblox and yes, homework for school. Start-up time is very fast. The 14" screen is a good size and graphics resolution was great. Windows 10 was a nice surprise. Battery life allows for hours of continuous on-line gaming. I was amazed at the Wifi connection speed of 115 Mbs which was the maximum from the wireless router. All in all, a good investment for our Granddaughters to learn about computers and use them for school
