Customers are saying
Customers are positive about the VIVE Cosmos Virtual Reality System's graphics and easy setup. They praise the spectacular image quality and fast setup with excellent display resolution. However, customers are negative about its tracking, price, and comfort. They mention that the tracking is good but not great, the $700 price tag is a huge deterrent, and it becomes quite warm when wearing even for short sessions.

It's alright, but there's better choices
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Reason why I don't bash it, with like 1 or 2 star, is software is really good. As a fellow programmer I know how difficult it is to program and I give that to Vive. But if you're new and you think this is going to be worth it LOOK AWAY. Reasons why to not buy this: -Price tag: I expected a drastic change due the high price tag from Rift S and even samsung odyssey (which are priced 399 and 499 respectively, but with sales, you can get either 349 or 229 respectively) -comfortability: I wanted to love the headset, but the halo design and strap felt so wacky for me, like it was as comfortable as my samsung odyssey -weight: controllers are too heavy. I don't understand how they can be so heavy compared to WMR controllers that are larger, but they are heavy and can grow heavy -FOV: this was tricky, I wasn't sure if I did something wrong but thought I messed FOV or something, since my odyssey+ has way more notable FOV compared to the cosmos. Although it seems pretty negative there's reasons for people to buy this. If first, there's no other headset in stock, and you were looking at Rift S, then sure, if you get it at 599 maybe it's okay. You get infinity with the headset, but i found it pointless. You get discounts for games, which is cool, but steam sales are kind of the same and you don't need the subscription so yeah. So final comments, new to vr? go for odyssey or rift s. Looking for upgrade? I'd say look elsewhere, specially the Index, I think that's what I'd look to buy personally.

Excellent VR for Starting out
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fast setup and excellent display resolution. The weight of the headset isn't noticeable and the controllers feel great. Gameplay is smooth and the cameras track hand movements surprising well. Only complaints are that the headset can be difficult to position perfectly and can make it blurry at times until its readjusted but once its lined up it stays in place. The other issue is the headphones. They don't snap down and into place easily and can easily pop back out of the locked down position. Other than that it is a phenomenal headset and VR setup and the lack of needing external sensors is awesome.

Solid VR experience, but expensive
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Given the negative reviews, I expected to be disappointed. I was not. Visually, the image quality on this thing is spectacular. The controllers are comfortable as well. Tracking is good, though not great. I can't speak for the experience of others, but the more you have on the walls in the room in which you're using the headset, as well as the brighter the lighting conditions, the better your results. My gaming room is loaded with posters and pictures on the walls, and that could have helped with tracking. There were a few times in-game where, if I moved my arms too far behind me or to the sides, I'd lose tracking, but bringing them back in a few inches fixed the problem. I never had anything close to game-breaking and have played through several games just fine with no difficulties whatsoever. However, that $700 price tag is a huge deterrent. The Cosmos offers a good VR experience, but for $700, you should expect something great. If you have the money to spend and are looking for premium visuals and want a VR headset with built-in sensors, the Cosmos is a good option all things considered.

What happened
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the Rift S and I figured, let me get the Cosmos since it should be the more premium experience for inside-out tracking. Couldn't have been more wrong, it started with the box; the Rift s had such a clean and simple unboxing, this is wrappers and cardboard with a side of VR. Then setting it up, I didn't realise I needed an extra software since steam said it recognised it but then couldn't detect it once steam VR was started. Then it blue screened my computer as I was setting up the room. I was able to get it back up and noticed that the edges of the lens were SUPER blurry, I needed to get the lens closer to my eyes but because of the flip-up visor the only way would be to tighten the headset to uncomfortable levels. I tried to boot up NMS and Pavlov, neither were able to be controlled. I finally got Beat sabers working and that was just a mess, tracking was horrendous. I closed out of the viveport and blue screen again, I immediately disconnected it and packed it up. Avoid, while it has a higher res and refresh rate than the Rift S, the headset was poorly design so you won't even notice it. Get the rift S, it's tracking is near perfect and it's just such a better package on top of getting finger tracking next year through a simple software update.

Not worth it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I do not like that with the cosmos and future Vive products they’re going to steer their system to using viveport with “LIMITED ACCESS TO STEAM GAMES” No matter how you adjust the head set the resolution is always fuzzy and you only get 60hz Speakers are good. Tracking sucks. In Pavlov my gun was always in the ground and could never properly play any other game. Also on the tutorial my hands would jump into the floor I had this for 2 hours then returned it because I was so disappointed. I ended up getting the oculus rift s they’re basically the same product but you’re getting 80 HZ for 400 dollars versus the 750 price for the cosmos. The oculus has amazing tracking and resolution and the screen is not fuzzy at all. I do not recommend this product to anyone I had the worst experience ever with it. If you want a vive get the older version not this one!

Graphics are great and tracking is 95%
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned the cosmos for 2 months now and have test the headset in lots of situations. Low lighting works good unless its a shooter game. The graphics are great and the headset is very comfortable. Tracking is only off is you hold the controllers next to the headset. Make sure to put the headset into beta mode and tracking will be better. Also make sure to have objects in your room for camera to track better. Tracking is 95% compared to the Quest. (I have a Quest but graphics are 100 times better on the Cosmos). The Cosmos is not perfect but its still very good. Hopefully tracking will improve for up close movements as they update 1-2 each month in beta mode.

Second Generation Vive
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I own the original Vive. My experience with the machinery was great, However Vive customer service was terrible. The Vive Cosmos is great. Base Stations are longer required which means less set-up fewer wires. It took a little adjustment but the new controllers are fine. I like being able to see the real environment without removing the headset. It has also been built to accept some future upgrades/modifications. All in all many little changes have resulted in a pleasant upgrade of the Vive. I can't give this product 100% because Vive customer service is still "do it yourself " and it is even more complex to setup the software because of the Viveport VR pass through to Steam VR that I still don't understand how it works or why it exists.

Very price for quality
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the first VR headset I have owned. I mean I did ride the VR rides at Dave and Busters, chasing down terminators, ride through Jurassic Park, riding on the back of dragons firing a crossbow, and saving Star Fleet a few times. But this.... is AWESOME!! I have been playing Half Life Alex!! So amazing!!! You are in the game!! The graphics are great and I think the controllers have a great response to them. I did have a bit of trouble with Skyrim VR, because the controllers in the game were made for the original vive controllers, but I got online and found a code that fixed that issue and now I can play with the cosmos controllers. I have also played The Lab, very very fun, and Vanishing Realms. I am having a blast!! I thought it was funny that my dog was chilling in my play area and I had just slain a beast, and reached down to pick up my gold loot and, well, I reached down and was picking gold coins off my dog haha!! This VR headset has been so much fun!! I highly recommend it!!

Q: QuestionDo you need sensors for tracking on the HTC VIVE COSMOS?
Asked by Modelo64.
- A:Answer The cosmos comes with "Inside-Out" tracking which means it has built in sensors (6 to be exact). Though it is supposed to work well, "outside-in" tracking (external trackers watching you) is still the most efficient for tracking, move latency, etc. The cosmo's is compatible with also using "Outside-In" tracking via Steam VR 1.0/2.0 Lighthouses BUT you must buy a special faceplate to enable this feature. We run arcades and distribute VR Treadmills and its a bummer as this changes our packages in a negative way.

Q: QuestionWould I be able to connect the original vive controllers to this device?
Asked by Sal.
- A:Answer They are making the head set work with 2.0 tracking, but it's another expensive you would have to add. I'm not sure if it's gonna be compatible with 1.0.

Q: QuestionIs rumor of a 2hr controller battery life accurate?
Asked by Kaptkrunch.
- A:Answer Yes and it requires 2 AA batteries, why? to create super duper bright blinding lights around the controller ring because they opted for low res RGB cam vs IR I'm not an oculus spokesperson but for inside-out entry level VR, Rift S is the only way to go in my opinion.

Q: QuestionWhat Laptops will this work with? Can you play flight simulators with this?
Asked by quest.
- A:Answer It will work with any laptop that has Displayport. HDMI will not work or HDMI to DisplayPort converter. Mini-display port will work as well. They have an adaptor for that. You can play Flight Simulator titles. There are a few that make for VR gaming.
