$599 was a steal for a gaming laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In my opinion this was a steal when it’s on sale, so far I loving this gaming laptop from Lenovo. I have an high-end desktop gaming pc but I wanted a gaming laptop so I could take when traveling or just laying down in bed. One complaint I heard was the battery drains a lot when gaming but that’s normal for any laptop these days. I’d upgraded the storage to 1tb and adding another 8gb ram stick which I really recommend doing right away when buying this laptop especially for gaming on it. The display is not the brightest display but it’ll get the job done. If you already have a high-end gaming pc at home don’t waste a lot of money on a gaming laptop, usually I see this laptop on sale all the time so if you see this on sale and you want a laptop that could game and do other task I recommend buying it immediately

BEST Budget Gaming Laptop!!!!!!
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.THIS IS the best budget laptop i could find after hours of research, it is fast, has a great screen with a 120hz panel and has great performance. If you don't want to read my full review, here's the tldr: TLDR; This is the best gaming laptop for the money and has a great screen, gpu, and other specs. If you are a gaming enthusiast, you will absolutely love this! The battery life is well, a gaming laptop battery, and isn't the best. Depending on how hardware intense the game is, it will drain battery much faster. If you are writing something down, or doing much simpler tasks, it will have a much longer battery, but for most games it will last 25-60 minutes depending on the game. The laptop has many good ports, here are all of them: 1x audio jack (headphone) 1x hdmi in, 2x usb ports, 1x usb-c port, power cable port. I would recommend a usb multiplier if needed. The screen is 1080p and has a 120hz panel meaning it can display video up to 120 frames per second (fps) and is very rare for a laptop at this price range. I dont know what type of hdmi port it has, but it runs my 144hz monitor perfectly fine at 1080p. Specs: the gpu is an rtx 3050 ti and is very good for a laptop at this price, it is great for gaming. The cpu on the other hand, isn't anything to talk about as it is a ryzen 5600H, which is an ok cpu. You will definitely have to change the nvidia driver so it will rely more on the gpu than the cpu for gaming, that way games run much better and smoothly. Certain games rely mostly on cpu and you can't change that, but most are fine. here is some stats for games that you might play: FORTNITE: 120 fps + on performance mode, and 90-120 on DirectX 11, on DirectX 12 is more like 20-50 fps with ray tracing and max settings and has lag spikes often on max settings; runs perfectly fine on DirectX 11 or lower graphics mode, and would recommend that over DirectX 12. (DirectX 12 is basically how high or low graphically you want to run your game at, DX11 will run game with shaders but no ray tracing or other fancy stuff, but DX12 will run game with ratracing and other fancy lights and shadow improvements. Low performance mode gets rid of shaders and has low poly textures, and overall looks a lot worse, but in return gets a much higher frame rate. I would highly recommend DX11 as it has solid shaders and textures with great fps.) MINECRAFT: easily 120 fps + with max settings with the iris + sodium mod. With shaders, (bsl, chocapic shaders,) you can also get 100-120 fps with settings tweaks. If you want a ray tracing shader, (seus, etc) you can get 30-60 fps depending on how hard the shader is to run. ( the better looking the harder it is to run) ROCKET LEAGUE: easily gets max 120 + fps on certain settings. (performance mode makes very little difference and gets much more fps) 2d indie games such as hollow knight, undertale, and brawlhalla (not an indie but similar) will easily run at 120 fps or more if the game allows it.

Great entry level for everyday use & gaming
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought an open-box for $380 after tax. I have no complaints with the condition, it was the display unit so it was not modified or opened by previous customers which is good. Now on performance, it is great but it can be a little noise when gaming. Battery doesn't last very long without charging, maybe 4 hours doing light browsing. While gaming, I notice the battery depletes a lot faster, it can be 3-2 hours when gaming. I give this a 4 star because the screen is a bit too dark and "blurry" if it is not set at 100% - this is due to low nits, but for this price i guess I can't expect to have higher nits. I upgraded this laptop with a 32GB dual rank RAM and 2TB WD 850x NVMe. Overall, this is a great budget laptop for everyday use and gaming.

Best bang for the buck!
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing has some power! For a laptop i am beyond impressed. Installing additional ram was so easy and made a big difference. The storage is a little on the small side but a 2tb external ssd connected to the single usb type c took care of that. Us b ports arent abundant but once again a splitter did the job. I have no issues running just about anything. Starfield plays like a dream along with rdr2, gta, overwatch, etc. I play all of these while also running obs and streaming with multiple programs running all at once. Wifi and lan are available. 10/10 recommend!

Awesome Laptop! Great For Gaming/Graphics Design!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been looking for a laptop that could play games and handle programming and graphic design software like Poser and Photoshop. I'm on a fixed income so my budget was no more than $700. I know, that's not much for what I wanted. But, I found the perfect laptop for me with the purchase of this Lenovo Ideapad 3 Gaming Laptop at a sale price of $550! I also added another 8 gigs of memory and another M.2 1 TB SSD to my initial purchase for another $102, bringing it to $652. I also read about the included 135w AC adapter issues and spent another $29 on a 170w adapter for a total of $681, under my budget! I could not be happier with my laptop and feel the money was well spent. With 16 gigs of RAM and the additional 1 TB SSD, it's handled everything I've thrown at it. And the 170w adapter works great, solving the problem of the battery losing charge while playing games or anything that uses the Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti video card. Speaking of which, the 3050 card was also a deciding factor in my decision as I wanted to buy a laptop with the best video card that my budget would allow, since you can't upgrade a laptops video card. Most budget gaming laptops come with a 1650, 1660 card so this Ideapad 3 is a step up. So, even with the upgrades, which is another plus since it can be upgraded, this particular machine is a solid investment for those looking for a gaming and/or graphics design laptop. Highly recommended!!

Great gaming laptop for 599$
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great gaming laptop for $599. I took it at this price and am very pleased, as the manufacturer has invested the entire amount in performance. From this we get a very small 256 GB drive and only 8 GB of RAM. I also didn't like the brightness of the screen. In this state, the laptop can still easily handle games such as Minecraft and GTA 5. But I bought an additional 1 TB ssd and an 8 GB RAM stick. It cost me $60 and 10 minutes to install. An additional bracket allows you to have 16 gigabytes of RAM and activates the rather important dual-channel mode. Now I can easily play GTA 5 on ultra settings at 110-120 fps. I also play some other modern games and he handles them quite easily. CPU and GPU temperatures do not exceed 176 degrees Fahrenheit, which is absolutely normal for a gaming laptop. I am very pleased and recommend this laptop for $599. I also recommend adding a RAM bar and another ssd for more storage after purchase.

Great and fast laptop, on sale
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great specs, great keyboard, decent display with meh colors, average speakers, but if you get this on sale, the price for performance is unmatched. Battery life is ok when not gaming, when gaming its about an hour. You'll run Dying Light 2 easily with DLSS and even Escape From Tarkov with DLSS. I had to upgrade RAM and storage though.

Q: QuestionWhats Max memory per slot?
Asked by 415k.
- A:Answer OK I can understand the LENOVO rep spouting the party line, and not knowing either how the chips and CPU work... but really should be able to read Lenovo-speak in the tech documentation even for this laptop. For others who choose to make noise in the echo chamber, well you might as well test before you speak, or keep silent, since it misleads many to parrot incorrect information. So: 1. This machine can do DDR4 3200 in dual channel, with 22-22-22-54 timing (standard JEDEC 12/13), using two (T W O) up to 32 GB RAM modules, 64 GB total. 64GB is the limit, its architecture not Ideapad 3 design causing this 64GB limit (e.g., not Lenovo's fault). 2. Modules do not _have_ to match (I wont go into a modern memory controller diatribe for DDR4). Only on rare cases (eg, by exception) will it not work to mix. 3. If you mix an 8GB and a 32 GB, for example, you will 8+8=16 in Dual Channel mode, and memory use beyond 16GB will be single channel. On this machine, that means a significant performance hit if that single channel is used, unlike the Legions (which have a different NB/SB/CPU setup on the Mobo). But it will work fine. 4. This exact machine will get a HUGE performance increase going from 8GB single channel to 16GB dual channel. Huge, including about 10 to 15% FPS using the 3050ti. 5. Performance to 16+16 and 32+32 is negligible, for general use and for gaming. More RAM is good for things like video editing of course, but if you do that a lot (or professionally), you do not want a 6-core machine with this mobo architecture to begin with.

Q: QuestionWhat games are playable? Would Genshin Impact, Minecraft, Roblox, and The Sims 4 all be playable?
Asked by Anonymus.
- A:Answer This laptop would very easily run those games with zero issues, as those games are all old, or otherwise designed for low-end systems with simplistic graphics. This laptop will above even recommend specifications for all of those games, and dare I say a bit overkill even!

Q: Questioni want not to replace but to add another ssd. this one specifically: SAMSUNG 980 SSD 500GB PCle 3.0x4, NVMe M.2 2280. does it have another slot for this option? and i want to add another 8gb ram, what brand should i get so it matches the previous one ?
Asked by koii.
- A:Answer Hi, Not sure of the brand of RAM it comes with but I added an 8 gig stick of PNY RAM, giving me a total of 16 gigs and it's working perfectly. I also added an additional Crucial M.2 2280 1 TB SSD and it's working perfectly as well so I'm sure the Samsung you mentioned will work too. Hope this helps!

Q: QuestionIs it okay and safe for this gaming laptop to have a protective fitted sleeve on it for added protection since this is a gift for my 13 year old or will the protective sleeve mess with the laptop’s cooling system and or just make it overheat???? Thank you
Asked by Kipp.
- A:Answer You must not block the cooling intake or exhausts. Keyboard spill proof membrane is OK. If you block the cooling, it should thermal limit CPU, graphics, etc. , but I am not going to test it to prove it wont destroy something which is not thermal protected, rotfl.

Q: QuestionIf I hook up an external 1080p monitor to this via HDMI, will the performance and frame rate in games be the same on the external monitor as it is on the laptops own display (all settings identical)? Or do you get worse performance when using HDMI output?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer This Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15 Gaming Laptop, model number 82K201XCUS, ships with the discrete, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti GPU, with 4GB GDDR6 VRAM on the card, and has a Boost Clock of 1485 / 1597.5MHz with a TGP of 85W, and has 1x HDMI 2.0 video out connection and supports up to 2 independent displays (native display and 1 external monitor via HDMI). HDMI supports up to 3840x2162@60Hz. HDMI 2.0 carries combinations like 1440p 165Hz with no issue, and for 1080p, frame rates of 240Hz are no problem, depending on the capability of the monitor you use.
