A: The LG over-the-range microwave model MVEL2137F is designed to be versatile and can accommodate different kitchen setups, including those without an external venting option. This microwave offers three venting options: exterior venting, recirculating (non-vented) venting, and convertible venting. If your kitchen does not have an external vent, you can configure the microwave to recirculate air back into the kitchen using charcoal filters, which help remove odors and impurities. For an apartment or condo where external venting might not be available, the recirculating venting option will work effectively. Q: Do other LG models have Extendavent feature and does that feature require venting to the outside?
A: Hi there. Please know that for the ExtendaVent to function properly, the over-the-range microwave must be vented to the outside through ductwork. The ExtendaVent cannot operate as a ductless or recirculating vent. Aside from MVEL2137F, models MHEC1737D, MVEF1337F, and MVEL2033D also have the ExtendaVent feature. -Charles
A: It does come with the mounting bracket, but we had one in previously, so we didn't need it. I don't believe they've made it a separate charge, but Best Buy does provide it.

A: Hi. The LG 2.1 cu. Ft. Smart Over-the-Range Microwave with ExtendaVent®2.0 & EasyClean®, Model # MVEL2137D, is designed for installation under your upper kitchen cabinet. The minimum installation clearance height before the microwave is installed is 30 ", and the minimum width between your upper kitchen cabinets is 30". It must be mounted against a flat, vertical wall, so it is supported by the wall. The wall should be constructed of a minimum of 2" x 4" wood studding and 3/8" thick drywall or plaster/lath. The 2 lag screws supporting the oven must be attached to a vertical, 2" x 4" wall stud, and the upper kitchen cabinet and rear wall structures that it must be attached to must support 150 lb. plus the weight of any items you place inside the oven or upper cabinet. All air vents should be kept clear during cooking. If air vents are covered during oven operation the oven may overheat. To prevent damage to the oven, a sensitive safety device detects overheating and automatically turns the oven off. The oven cannot be used until it has cooled sufficiently. Regrettably, we do not have enough information about the open space above your built-in oven, nor do we have instructions for installing this microwave oven other than those in the installation guide, so we cannot advise you if you can install it there...^Ivan.

Glad we bought it!
We've had this installed for about two weeks. We are very happy with it so far. The extend a vent feature seems to work pretty well. That was what steered me towards LG and I'm glad I bought it. My wife wasn't sold on the modern look at first but now that she's been using it she loves it. Her square dinner plates go around without hitting the door like they did in our old OTR microwave. I would like much brighter interior lighting when it is running so I can see better what's cooking. The controls are easy to use and mostly intuitive. If it is reliable then I will be even happier that I chose this one.

Beautiful high tech microwave
Beautiful, high tech and lots of presets. I love that this microwave looks so good and performs so well. The fan is really effective especially with the extending vent. I like the alerts in the app when the food is done. I also like all the presets and smart sensor cooking. The only issues I have are that while the stainless steel doesn’t show fingerprints (awesome) the glass of course does so you’re still wiping it down frequently and the touch sensitivity could be a tad higher to match what we are used to with our phones and tablets.

It's the first microwave someone will compliment
First lets state the obvious, it's a microwave. LG did not reinvent this technology nor am I convinced with the gimmicky scan your food for automatic timer. With that said, as far as being a microwave, it does that well. I also do not think you need to connect this to your wifi to control your fan speed or turn on your lights, but I did. Where this microwave stands out is the looks. My friend came over and honestly asked what was above my stove. Its a stunner appliance. I also like the extend vents which come in handy when you use the front burners. The LED light is also a nice touch and looks nice when turned on. The no handle was diffrent but we got used to it quickly. My only complaint! The window is so dark its really hard to see the food when you are microwaving, but thats where it ends. I would buy it again if it died in a few years.
