I believe it stores 7 days in the cloud for free. Longer, you need to purchase their Arlo service. I did not want to pay for a service, so I attached an external hard drive to the base unit and it will store all videos until the drive is full. Once filled, it will write over older videos. I have a 2TB drive so it will hold a lot. You have to make sure that you format the external hard drive to FAT32 or it won't work.
