No, this will be a replacement of your existing modem. You would have to connect a coax and power cable to activate the device

Please try again later.you will need to remove the old modem and connect this arris to the coax cable the old modem was connect. it is very simple to install it. when you un plug the old modem, plug the new one and call internet tech support from cable company and they will ask you for the CMAC numbers what is on a sticker. after they register the unit, this will works in less than 5 minutes. no ethernet cable need to use to.old modem. there is only one ethernet port at the arris modem and that is to connect or to your router.
