A:AnswerI do not know for sure about google fiber but I connected mine directly to the Century Link Fiber Adtran 411 ONT via the WAN port and ran initial setup selecting Auto IP config. All work as expected.
A:AnswerYes, I have 2 Asus router for a Smart home.
I have this as an additional point. In total i have 56 devices connected and 20 on this router alone. I recommend this.
A:AnswerASUS the brand and products/customer support is nowhere near as great as HP and Dell. Don't listen to these best buy employees who say ASUS is great because its a lie, bought a new Zenbook s16 and its been having an insane amount of issues.
A:AnswerIf your security cameras stream video 100 percent of the time, they could take up a lot of bandwidth; however, the router CAN handle lots of simultaneous connections. I have some 30+ devices that connect to it with no problem, both wired and wireless.
A:AnswerALL ASUS routers have built-in firewalls which are highly configurable. However filtering by port number requires some advanced knowledge of scripting. DDos attack protection can be switched on/off in the Firewall tab.
A:AnswerI would avoid a WIFI connection for a second router. Find a way to get an Ethernet cable over to it from your main router. That is if you want reliable service. TWO routers can work seamlessly together in the same house. There are many tutorials out there to help with that. Best way is to buy a second Asus router using AI-Mesh to set it up.
A:AnswerTechnically, 250 devices can be connected to the router, however, most internet service providers will only allow 5 devices to connect simultaneously. Hving more than 5 devices connected will cause slow connection or other connection related issues.
A:AnswerYes it will work, you have to go into the settings of the modem and disable the internal mode, you can call tech support and they will help you.
But why? 2 options. Buy a cable modem also and quit paying the rental fee.. Or call xfinity and have them give you range extender pods.
My honest opinion this router will not make s great difference than the combo you have from xfinity
