• No mine did the same thing and the brushes weren't moving either. It may be defective and you might need to exchange it. I did and the new one I have is much more quiet than any other carpet cleaner Ive ever used

• Is this a wet/dry vac? I mean can it also be used as a vacuum only like traditional vacuums?
