• Yes, dlink has a program on their web site that allows you to record as well as view. You can also view thru an internet browser.

• If you're asking if it can be used as a web cam, no. You need to connect to the camera through a web browser or other special software. Out of the box it will not show up as a camera for Skype or other chat software. Doesn't mean someone could write something to make it work, but it doesn't work out of the box.

• As in a web cam? Not sure. It is a ethernet IP based camera either by wire or by wifi and can be viewed by most browsers and by app after setup.

• you can through the d-link website. I do not recommend it though due to the website constantly crashing. better used with tablet or smartphone.
