1. eero Pro’s have two RJ45 ports on the back for hardwiring devices needing hardwire connectivity. Beacons do not have any ports. 2. eero Pro’s are tri-band systems (a 2.4ghz, 5.2ghz, and 5.8 ghz signals). Beacons only have two (2.4ghz and 5.2ghz). That allows the Pro’s to experience less signal congestion under heavily used situations. 3. eero Pro’s use an AC power adapter and USB-C cable for power. Beacons plug directly into an AC outlet. That means the Pro’s have a little more flexibility for placement.

The 1 pro is your basic router, and could work for small area coverage. 3 Eero Pros is a System (basic router and 2 extenders or Beacons), which should adequately cover most residential dwellings. The 2 Beacons are just extenders to the basic router, to provide extended coverage. It is important to note the all units are the same and could be used interchangeably- you need ONE to act as the “gateway” -your basic router; after that, the number of units are used as extenders to provide coverage per the size of your dwelling.

This gives them more bandwidth between the remotes and the base than the beacons have. The remote pro's can also be used as bridges, giving you to ability to plug in a wired-only device.
