- Answer The nuvi 55LM does come with a USB/data cable, as well as a vehicle power cable. You can plug the USB cable into a USB port on your computer to charge the device. It also charges while in use and connected to the vehicle power cable. The USB cable can also plug into any compatible A/C adapter for wall charging. AC adapters are available through the retailer. - Answer The nüvi 550LM has the options to avoid or not avoid highways, parkways, and/or tolls. It does also include lifetime mapping updates. ^DK

QuestionDoes this tell you what side of the road your destination is on?When you are getting close to your destination does this tell you what side of the road (left or right) your destination will be on? If you are in heavy traffic & multiple lanes this is important! And I am talking about when you are on just a normal street not interstate exits. thanks!

Questionusing Nuvi 55LM while drivingWhen it is plugged into USB port in the car, the screen shows only that it is being charged. How do I get it to show me driving directions?

- Answer Plug it in using your 12V (cigarette lighter) adapter. When you plug a GPS in using the USB port the GPS will go into an update mode or allow you to access the internal memory.

QuestionCamera WarningI currently have a different brand of GPS and bought it specifically becaue it does provide speed/ red light and other traffic warning, NUt it's so expensive to update maps. Does this Grmin offer traffic camera alerts?

QuestionCan I switch from Automobile mode to Pedestrian + 2 more questionsIf I am in a new city and want to walk over to a place, rather than drive, does this GPS model provide walking directions? Also, is this model portable? Can I mount this model on my Car Windshield instead of the Dashboard?

- Answer In reverse order: Yes, you can mount it on your windshield, which is where mine is mounted. It comes with everything you'd need to do that. The model is portable, but I believe it only holds a 2 hour charge. So yes, you can switch it to walking directions and carry it with you, but if you're going to be gone longer than 2 hours, you'd need to bring the charging cord.
