A:AnswerHi,
Thanks for asking! We appreciate you choosing GE Appliances and we're happy to help. When replacing an over-the-range microwave, the mounting bracket included with the new microwave should be used since the mounting bracket is specific to each model. The new screws, bolts, and exhaust adapter should also be used. Let us know if you have any more questions. Take care!

A:AnswerYou might need to purchase a replacement vent directly from GEappliances.com if the flap is too pinched to move - if you need the flap. My old microwave that came with the house did not have a vent bracket at all - it simply blew air into the cabinet space above it and ultimately out the exhaust vent - not ideal but in hindsight I didn't notice anything bad in the short 2 years the old microwave worked. My new microwave is the same as yours and I now have a working flap installed, and on windy days I can hear it slapping around. Two take-aways from that. 1. It does block outside air from back-drafting into the house (my house's vent has a screen on the outside but no flap). 2. The metal microwave flap can be noisy at times. If your house has a flap externally then you probably don't need the microwave's flap.
When I installing my microwave I noticed its vent was much smaller than the large gap in the cabinet above it. Instead of somehow joining the two sizes together I used double-sided tape to attach foam insulation on top of the microwave - surrounding the microwave's exhaust and as wide as the cabinet gap - which creates a seal against the cabinet above it so exhaust from the Microwave has nowhere to go but directly through the house's exhaust vent.

Great question! We thank you for your loyalty to GE Appliances and we'd be happy to help. We do not recommend reusing the same mounting bracket. This model (JVM7195EKES ) will come equipped with a mounting bracket so there is no need to purchase one separately. We hope this information helps!

Thanks for asking! We appreciate you reaching out to us about this model and we'd be glad to help. The charcoal/grease filter should be replaced every 6-12 months or when it is noticeably dirty or discolored. You can find instructions on how to change this filter using the link below:

A:AnswerHi there, Vinnie! We appreciate you reaching out to us. We do not call convection cooking by any other term. We have an air frying feature, but it is not available in our over-the-range microwaves and it functions somewhat differently than convection cooking. We also offer our Advantium over-the-range microwaves which lists convection cooking as one of the 5 available cooking methods. If you have any further questions, feel free to reach out to us at our contact page. Keep in touch! Emily@GEA
