Does the fan turn on every time the microwave runs, or just when you physically turn it on? We have a GE JVM3160 and the fan runs every time we turn the microwave on - and it's very loud (have to shout to be heard). Looking for something better. null

Our fan only turns on when we turn it on. Sometimes I forget to turn it on when I'm cooking and the fire alarm goes off.

Hello - Great question! A fan where the internal components are located will run continuously while the microwave is in operation to constantly circulate the air to cool the working parts. It is normal for the internal fan for the electronics to continue to run for a few seconds after the microwave cycle is complete, even if the door is opened. This fan does not circulate air in the cavity. Thanks for checking. -Mikayla@GEA
