  • QuestionIs this thermostat hardwired.

    Asked by Steve.

    • Answer Yes, this thermostat is hardwired. What's not hard wired is the connection to your internet which allows changing temperatures, vacation hold, etc. while on the go via your phone app or logging into your computer. Display also shows outside temperature and humidity. A good unit but don't expect it to last for years and years. I've had to replace but went with same unit as it is easy to use and like the device.

  • QuestionWill this T-stat do auto change over with gas heat?

    Asked by David.

    • Answer I don't believe so, I've read the manual and I don't see anything in there yet that says it will auto select the mode. It appears you have to go to the mode and switch it with the push of a button, either in the app or on the thermostat (or Alexa if you're connected). Good luck!

  • Questioni have the 9585 WF. I set it up with the 5 wires and set up according to the codes colors. When i turn on the ac i get heat, not hot air but warmer then ac air. When I turn it to heat i get cool air. Does anyone know of a correct wire connection for this

    Asked by DB.

    • Answer You can't always go by the color codes of the wire. You needed to see where the wires themselves were hooked up on your old thermostat. As that is not an option any longer you will now need to go to the control board at the unit to see which wire is on which terminal and attach them to the thermostat the same way. When the contractor originally built my house the upstairs and downstairs thermostats were wired differently. On one my blue wire was in the green position and the other one the blue wire was my spare for the "C" wire. It doesn't matter what their color is as long as they all are hooked up correctly at both places (thermostat and control board). Hope that helps! Good luck!

  • QuestionCan this thermostat be run without WiFi?

    Asked by Nick.

    • Answer Yes but it will not take advantage of the many useful features available on the thermostat. This is a smart thermostat because of it’s connection to WiFi. If you don’t want to connect to WiFi, buy a non-WiFi’s thermostat and save yourself some money.

  • QuestionHow do I install this thermostat?

    Asked by Keith.

    • Answer This question is quite generic. Honeywell packages these with screws and anchors to mount it to the wall. You will need a level to check for level installation and the mounting plate shows you were to place the level. You will need to know your wiring from your old thermostat and have a "C" wire available or a way to connect it at the main unit with wiring that is already present, if not you would have to run wire. If you don't quite get it you should probably call your local HVAC company to have this done. It's not hard but the main control board on the heat/ac unit is sensitive and costly to replace if you make an error. Good Luck!

  • QuestionHow to change the battery

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer This thermostat doesn't have a battery to change. It runs off the "C" wire on your 24V HVAC system.

  • Questionhow does this unit calculate or measure humidity? I see a humidity display , so there must be a sensor or calc.

    Asked by tomL.

    • Answer The thermostat itself is a bit heavier than I thought it was going to be so I can only assume some of what I see sticking out the back of the case might be a sensor for just that purpose. Other than that you could ask Honeywell. Their customer service was very helpful at my pre-purchase stage with questions i had before buying the Thermostat. Good Luck!

  • QuestionHi, can that thermostat work with a two wire

    Asked by Jeff.

    • Answer Not exactly sure what you mean by two wire. Is it that you only have heating? If that is the case it will work for your heating system as long as it's a 24V system and you have a "C" wire or are able to get one connected to power the thermostat. You may need to get an HVAC company in to check your wiring before you purchase this. If you have more pre-purchase questions the customer service at Honeywell was great when I contacted them with questions. Good Luck!

  • QuestionHouse built in 2014. Currently have Honeywell thermostat with 3 wires in back. Data, R and C. Model TH9421C 1004. Is this compatible? Previously tried nest and didn’t work

    Asked by Bjones.

    • Answer The Honeywell TH9421C1004 thermostat connects with an Equipment Interface Module or EnviraZONE panel, to control temperature, humidification, dehumidification, and ventilation. In some systems, legacy wiring terminals are available. Legacy wiring terminals include; R, W, Y, G, and C. If legacy wiring terminals are available, a Honeywell Wi-Fi thermostat can be wired to those terminals to control the system. We recommend that you contact a Heating Ventilation and Zoning professional, for further consultation.
