A:AnswerHi TT, this thermostat does not use batteries, it takes power from your HVAC system through the C wire. If the Wi-Fi goes out, your thermostat will continue to run your system and work as a regular thermostat as long as there is power. - Maria
A:AnswerHi Jake, we will be happy to help verifying the compatibility of your HVAC system and this thermostat. We need to know how many total wires you have and which terminals are being used on your current thermostat. A:AnswerThis thermostat connects to the internet via your home Wi-Fi network. The outdoor temperature displayed on the screen is what the weather service is reporting for your location.
A:AnswerHi, its possible the second floor does not have a heating element, this is something you'll want to confirm by locating the system or asking an H-vac installer. If you find that the 2 floor system does have a heating option you can adjust your heating stages to 1 from the installer menu by selecting settings, arrow to system setup and press next to heating stages. -Joey
A:AnswerHi, thanks for reaching out. Each zone would need their own unit. You'll want to make sure each zone has a C wire going to the thermostats for power. -Joey

A:AnswerHi, the TH8321WF1001 Thermostat is designed for trade use and offers a broader range of application compatibility than the RTH9585WF Thermostat. It includes the ability to control a whole house humidifier/dehumidifier and ventilation system. The RTH9585WF Thermostat works with forced air heating systems (gas, oil or electric), hot water/steam systems, and heat pump systems that have electric backup. -Jerry
A:AnswerHi. Unfortunately, it is not possible to program the thermostat to power off, but you can set it to OFF mode by using the controls on the screen and remotely via the Total Connect Comfort app and web portal. If the thermostat needs to be powered off completely during the renovation, you can do so by disconnecting the faceplate from the wallplate or shutting off the circuit breaker for the HVAC system. For further assistance, please feel free to reach out to us at 1-800-633-3991, or through Twitter and Facebook under Honeywell Home. -Jerry
