• Yes, but there are solutions to this if you don't. Honeywell will walk you through this if you call support.

• Yes. If you don't have one, you can always by an adapter kit to install along with the thermostat.

• You do, but there might be another option. I contacted their tech support before I got started, and they walked me through confirming things.....then I had the info I needed to make this work.

• YES! This thermostat does not use batteries, it receives its power from a "C" wire directly from the central air unit.

• Hello Nick! Yes, the Honeywell Smart Thermostat with Wi-Fi does require a common (C) wire. This wire will provide the 24 volts needed to power the thermostat. If you do not have a common wire available, Honeywell also offers the Lyric Round Wi-Fi thermostat (model # RCH9310WF), which does not require the 24 volt common wire for power. I hope this helps.
