A great product even greater during sales!
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Freshly installed and looks great. I just wanted a simple wifi thermostat that I can control with an app with great looks and this one checks all the boxes. In fact I bought two of them. One during last Black Friday and another this Black Friday. I'm a little bias because both times I got these at a big discount but I don't think you will find that others are much better for the price. The scheduling feature is very intuitive. I personally don't use it as I like to keep it at a certain temp but others might find it useful especially if you are not always in the house. I've had problems with previous thermostats where either the power or wifi would disconnect but I have not had a single problem with this one after 1 year of use.

Good thermostat for a vacation home.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like the way this thermostat is laid out and how it functions. I purchased it for a family vacation home. It allows me to easily check the temperature in the house and change it as required remotely. I like that it can be changed to a schedule when the house is occupied and a static temperature when it's unoccupied. I do wish there was a temperature spread mode that could switch between Cool and Heat automatically that didn't require using the schedule but it is easy enough to just check the app and make changes as required. The app is quite easy to use once you become familiar with it. If you want to get more info at a glance, you can go to the website. The website makes programming a schedule much easier. There is also a way to allow others to access the account so my family members can set temps before they arrive at the house. The display indicates not only indoor temperature, it also indicates the outdoor temperature as well as indoor/outdoor humidity. It was fairly easy to install, however, the video and instructions explaining the onscreen setup didn't match what was on our screen 100%. There was an extra question regarding the efficiency of our fan unit. Our fan unit is over 20 yrs old and there was no efficiency rating on the unit that I could find. I also couldn't find the manual online. So I had to guess that it was under 90% efficient. Additionally, the touch screen is not very responsive. Sometimes it takes 3-5 pokes of the screen to get a touch to register. That is my biggest issue with this thing. I really like the larger always-on screen. I use a Nest thermostat in my office and like the look of the Honeywell and the info it provides better than the minimalis Nest display. It is also easier for my elderly father to operate. The Honeywell was also $50 less expensive than the Nest when I made my purchase. All in all I would recommend it. Especially to people who are already familiar with Honeywell thermostats like me.

Nice choice
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As Honeywell was the original product, we decided not to get absorbed with all the hype (Ecobee or Nest) and stay with the original and upgrade. Simple features, plate fits closely to the wall where others extend out. Clean and illuminated. Works like the previous version, only has app features. TIPS: remove the previous thermostat and confirm if you have a "C" wire connector. VERY important. Wires are simple to install but take your time to identify precisely which coincide to the proper location. TAKE A PHOTO BEFORE YOU BEGIN REMOVING ANY WIRES! (for reference). Also, be sure you are able to identify the specific unit you currently have; either heat pump or forced air. This will be important when programming your unit otherwise it will not operate correctly. Forget the Tech Support; time consuming and it seems they try to read from information they have available. Although polite, would not consider them any more savy than you are (consider YouTube if you need help). Very pleased with this unit and at a cost savings price from other units!

Easy to install. Reliable ,could use more features
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The unit is pretty reliable. Not a lot of bills and whistles. Easy to use works with Google home. Wish it had a few more features but it seems this unit is not the flagship device and doesn't seem to get any added features. The unit was easy to install? T He install service from best buy said my system wasn't compatible. Left the unit me. did a Google search and contacted Honeywell. Tech from BB was wrong. He was satisfied with getting paid for trip and mileage. I'm just assuming but the business model may incentives techs, which could turn more appoitments and make about the same. Again just an assumption based on this experience.

Easy setup with convenience
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Installed this wanting to simplify my smart home system. Just the right size and all information is clearly visible. I have used several brands on stand alone units at my workplace. You just can’t beat the cost and control of so many features packed into this unit that in a commercial application would cost thousands. I can recommend this if you want to create or incorporate this into your smart home network.

It works well
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This smart thermostat works well. I have a heat pump and the directions to transfer the wires from the existing thermostat to this model weren’t that clear even referring to the supporting installation instructions. Also, the app/website isnt as user friendly as the competition, it forces you to log in with a username and password each time.

Easy and simple
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to install, very simplistic, easy to schedule, only issue was trying to figure out how to get the device to follow the schedule. I read the instructions multiple times, watched videos multiple times, then finally found where you take off the permanent hold for the device to follow the schedule. Since then everything works great. Love that I can use my phone to control.

Q: QuestionHow do I know if I have a C-wire in the wall where my old Honeywell thermostat was? Is there a way to make this work if I do not have a c-wire?
Asked by Roberto.
- A:Answer You can use the fan or “g” wire to Power it.
Answered by TVannouncer
Q: QuestionWhat are installation instructions & wiring requirements?
Asked by Sitruc.
- A:Answer You will need to have a "C" wire in order to use this. If you do not have one, there are additional instructions on how to wire it and it includes the wire you can use to jump it in your thermostat. If you have minor DIY skills, you should have no problem with the installation.

Q: QuestionFor those who use this thermostat for both heat and AC, say it’s July and you have the nighttime temperature set to 72 until you leave at 8am. Then it’s set for 78. Will the heat go on to make up that 6 degree difference? I know it shouldn’t but..:.
Asked by WRJW971.
- A:Answer Hi there! The Honeywell Smart Color Thermostat does have the ability to be setup for Auto Changeover; this will allow the thermostat to turn on heating or cooling as needed based on your schedule setup. However, the heating and cooling set points must be at least three degrees apart and the heating set point is unable to be set above the cooling set point. So for your example, if your cooling set point is 72 degrees, you would only be able to set your heating set point to 69 or lower. To answer your question, this thermostat will not turn your heat on to bring your home up to the 78 degree set point you have chosen for the next scheduled period. It will allow the house to naturally get that warm if it is able to, and if it does, the thermostat will turn your cooling on to maintain the 78 degrees if necessary. I hope this helps!

Q: QuestionHow can I determine if I have the "C" wire? Do I have to remove the existing thermostat?
Asked by Lee.
- A:Answer You will need to remove your old thermostat to determine if you have a C wire. Just because it's there don't assume it's real. You will need your system powered on to test. You need to CAREFULLY, using a volt meter set on AC, measure the voltage between the R ( could be RC in some cases) wire and the C wire. You should see 24 Vac. It could be as high as 29 Vac when nothing is running, and nothing will be with your thermostat removed. If you have the voltage then the C wire is real and you can continue. If not consider having your system updated to include it.

Q: QuestionHi. I have a regular Honeywell thermostat. I know for sure it uses AA batteries. Does this mean that I don't have c wire and then I won't be able to install the new smart thermostat?
Asked by Mike.
- A:Answer You will need to confirm if you have a common wire or not. You can not tell simply by the thermostat needing batteries or not. Some thermostats used the batteries for display illumination or to hold the program memory in case of a power outage.

Q: QuestionHoneywell says we need a redlink module for the internet interface. Instructions do not mention it and all the reviews says easy to install and program so I need one?
Asked by redlink.
- A:Answer Honeywell RTH9585WF wirelessly connected to my home Wi-Fi network just like a tablet or laptop. No additional modules were required.

Q: QuestionMy RTH9585WF thermostat will not go above 77 degrees
Asked by Doug.
- A:Answer Hi Doug! This Smart Color WiFi Thermostat has temperature limits that you will be able to adjust by going to Settings> Preferences> Advanced Preferences, then press 'Next' until you see "Temperature Limits". You can adjust the Range Stop by pressing the up/down arrow for heat and cool and then you have to press 'Done' and select 'Yes" to save the changes. Have a great weekend!

Q: QuestionDoes this thermostat change automatically from heat to cool or cool to heat?
Asked by Danzam.
- A:Answer Yes, but you have to enable Automatic changeover in the Advanced Preferences screen as this feature is off right out of the box.
