A: Hi there, thank you for your inquiry. The new Google Nest Learning Thermostat (4th Gen) does not require a sensor to function properly. However, for optimal temperature control and comfort, we strongly recommend using a sensor. You may also place the Google Nest Temperature Sensor in a different room to monitor and control the temperature in that specific area.
A: Hi Sparkz. Thanks for your inquiry. The Nest Learning Thermostat 4th Gen requires a specific mounting bracket and wire harness that's different from previous models. Please use the ones included with your new thermostat.
A: Hey there. The Nest Learning Thermostat 4th generation typically activates the AC or heat when the ambient temperature deviates from the set point by a small margin. This margin is often around 0.5 degrees Fahrenheit. It's important to note that this can vary slightly depending on factors like the specific settings on your thermostat, the efficiency of your HVAC system, and environmental conditions.
Q: Is it compatible with apple homekit ?
A: Yes, it is finally compatible with Apple HomeKit using Matter.
Q: If the WiFi goes out can I still control the temperature manually?
A: Great question, Kat. The Nest Thermostat Gen 4 will continue to follow its set schedule even without Wi-Fi. While you won't be able to control it via the app when it's offline, you can still adjust the temperature directly on the thermostat itself. Being a non-handy new home-owner I had it in my head that replacing my legacy smart thermostats - which I could never get to work properly - would require the help of a professional so I just kept putting it off and suffering the cost and comfort consequences. Finally, seeing the headlines about the 4th gen Nest got me to do a quick google and sure enough it seemed my wiring would be compatible AND that I could even do it myself. So I bought one Nest, followed the instructions and within maybe 35 minutes had it up and running. It was so easy to install, and also to program! The very next day I bought my second one (which I was able to install in at most 15 minutes). Plus two sensors. Two weeks in, everything is working exactly as it should. And they look beautiful and the weather forecast display is genuinely useful. Tremendous!

This new gen of nest looks sleek and I love the details on the screen. Easy to install the only thing is you need to use the google home app to control it not the nest app.

I purchased this to replace my original gen 1 nest thermostat and so glad I did. The display is gorgeous and the inclusion of the temperature sensor is appreciated. My big reason for upgrading was the Matter/homekit integration. Despite the original nest being a great device I’ve always wanted it in my Apple home and now with the fourth generation it is linked up and works great. The original nest did not work with temperature sensors and now I can have the thermostat switch to the bedroom sensor at night, love this. Other features worth mentioning that have been impressive are dynamic farsight, and natural cooling. All in all this was a great upgrade for me and I see myself using this thermostat another 10+ years like I did with the original
