Your thermostat would need to have an AUTO setting
If it only has a Cool/hear/off mode it would not do what you are looking for.
In heat mode it will keep the temp at or above the temp you set it to but not the maximum temp
In cool mode it will keep the temp at it below the temp setting you set but not above the minimum temp
If your thermostat does not have an auto mode there are other wifi thermostats you can look at that do have an auto mode setting
