A lot of people think that this unit produces steam... I does not. I know it's misleading, but it DOES have an internal heater. This unit is for cleaning carpets, and after using it for 5 years, it does that very well. If you want something that produces enough steam to kill bugs... I suggest that you get something that produces steam to take wrinkles out of clothes ...It doesn't vacuum anything, but it produces the kind of steam your looking for to kill bugs. I hope this helps.
