I think you can keep using it until you notice the tiny bristles have become bent over such that they would no longer reach the laser lens. The plastic disc holder it comes in keeps the disc raised so that the bristles are not touching the bottom of the holder during storage. It is important to keep the original disc holder it comes in for that purpose.
