A:AnswerI believe so - I bought this to use with my 35 year old Nintendo and 2019 Samsung smarttv that no longer offered any kind of audio/visual output options but HDMI only. Works perfectly!
A:AnswerNO! If I knew what inputs your receiver has, I could answer your question better, but, if your receiver has HDMI inputs, all your audio and video gear are connected to that, and one HDMI cable runs to your tv! If not, then you need an optical cable that runs from your tv to the optical input of your receiver!

I am sorry to hear and share your frustration with your issue. Allow me to shorten my answer up. Best Buy IS the place to go with you easy to fix solution to your problem. First of all, going to Best Buy is far from a waste of time. If you plugged in the converter (Insignia), and the light did not come on the converter, then if you haven't already, take it back to Best Buy with the receipt showing the date and time of the purchase, and have a tech run a quick test on it. If it is a part that has been known to have some converters come in that don't work, the tech may bypass the test and just exchange the old one for you for a new one. If you are still not able to get the converter to do what you are hoping to accomplish, then call a Geek Squad tech to come out to your home and help you fix your problem.
