A:Answer I'm not sure how the smart plug would add to the features. If you're trying to turn on certain features at a certain time, you can set an alarm for those times/days. It supports multiple alarms, though you can't just temporarily toggle them on and off. You must cancel individual alarms altogether and re-create at a later time if you just don't want it to go off on one particular pre-scheduled day. At least I haven't been able to get the Google Home "Do Not Disturb" setting to work with the Insignia Speaker. The speaker's latest firmware updates don't seem to include the latest Google Home updates. It doesn't support "Continuous Conversation" yet, either, apparently. You can make the alarm play radio, a playlist, or a certain song, etc., if you don't want a generic tone. Since it's essentially a speaker, I'm not sure what else you would use the smart plug to turn on and off. I'd think you'd want the clock displaying all the time, as that is the other feature. You can control the brightness from the speaker. But unlike the Echo Spot, this doesn't seem to have an easy way to set a daytime and nighttime brightness for the display. That's another Google Home setting it seems to ignore. At this point, having a family member with the Echo Spot for the same purpose and knowing the difference in how they perform, now I'd get the Spot instead - even as a standalone among all other Google Home devices.
