The Chamberlain C205 uses a smart wall control panel (rather than a simple switch that shorts across the two wires). Because of this, it will not work with the Insignia Garage Door Controller. Most smart wall control panels also have a "Learn" button on the wall control panel (yours does not). The compatibility has nothing to do with the learn function, rather the lack of simple open/close via a momentary closure of the circuit across the 2 wires. Most wall control panels with Learn function lack this required interface.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I think I figured it out: The device works by joining the existing wiring from a hard-wired, interior door opener (the button by the door). If that interior door opener has a ‘learn’ button, it means that it is not hard-wired, and there may not be wiring ports on the opener that the device can join. This device is basically a second, hard-wired interior door opener button (there is a button on it too that opens/closes the door when pressed). But it also has WIFI and Siri/HomeKit capability, making it way more accessible if you have an iPhone. Hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I am not a tech, nor do I understand multiple types of openers or configurations... This system uses a 2-wire open close signal. It seems likely that if your learn button is on the wall with the buttons that open and close your doors, that it likely uses a system with more than 2 wires to connect to the garage opener. My garage has 2-wire buttons on the wall that trigger open and close, and also has another automated system connected to the alarm that also uses 2-wire to connect on the opener. I just added the 2 wires from this Insignia system to the same terminals on the opener itself, and it is able to trigger open and close. The instructions state that you must also have obstruction sensors installed (which I do), but I didn't see how those play into it during the installation.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I believe that is because those garage doors have roaming code issues that will prevent remote opening.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm not sure why that would be. We have a learn button for all three of our garage doors and it works fine with them. Just make sure the garage door opener above the garage door has the proper wiring to support a physical switch as well so that you can attach the Insignia Wi-Fi garage door opener.
