• Yes, this will work with a 2nd gen Apple TV. I'm using is with a 3rd gen Apple TV, and the remote commands are the same. You can look it up in the Logitech online database, or you can just use the learning feature to program the buttons manually if you're having trouble finding the right device online.

• With the software you can find through Logitech's website which you need to program the remote anyways, yes it will work with any device with an IR sensor.
